Back to the mines station. D-16, Orion Pax, and Silverstorm sat on metal benches in the resting area. D-16 rubbed his cheek plate, still sore from Darkwing's punch to the faceplate. "Ow... that hurts." D-16 groaned. "Well, what did you expect? He's made of metal." Orion Pax said. "Yeah, but you shouldn't done that, Orion. Did you see how he looked at me? He was about to hit me, and I didn't say anything." Silverstorm explained, looking at them. "She's right, you were out of line." D-16 responded, turning his helm to him. "Talking back to a superior bot." Silverstorm nodded her helm. "Darkwing was the one out of line. He deserves it." Orion Pax crossed his servos. "Yeah, but you guys got punched hard in the face." Silverstorm commented, laughing. They both turned their helms, looking at her with annoyance. "Sorry, sorry, I just couldn't resist!" Silverstorm laughed again until she calmed down and smiled at them.
They both turned each other and groaned at her but smiled at her. "Either way, I appreciate you having my back." Orion put a servo on D-16's shoulder. D-16 looked at him and nodded before looking down again. "I'm glad you were there with me to get punched in the face. Even Silverstone thinks it was fun." Orion smiled. D chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, sorry for laughing at you guys, but it was funny, and at least it was a punch and not something even worse." Silverstorm apologized. "It's okay, Silverstorm." Orion responded, looking at her. "Yeah, at least you didn't get punched because it hurt." D-16 commented. Silverstorm hummed in agreement.
They stayed quiet until a loud beep was heard in the mine area. "All sectors, stand by for a live transmission by Sentinel Prime." An automated voice echoed through the place as the light turned off so the hologram projected could be visible in the dark. "He's back?" D-16 stands up in disbelief. "He's back already?" Silverstorm groans in annoyance. "I'm so tired. Do we have to watch this?" Silverstorm asked as she tiredly followed D-16. "Maybe he found the Matrix?" Orion asked, following his best friend. A blue and golden mech appeared in the hologram. "Is this on?" Sentinel Prime asked. "Thank you." He nodded once he got the signal, turning to face the camera, supposedly talking to all Cybertronians. "Hello, my friends. Hello, Iacon City! Hello to our saviors, the industrial workers who toiled selflessly to maintain our Energon reserves." He introduced himself to everyone. "I celebrate you!" Everyone began cheering at Sentinel's gratitude for them. "Humility and peace!" D-16 called, with the crowd's cheer. "That's leadership!" He smiled, turning to face Orion Pax and Silverstorm. "Aww, nobody does it better!" Silverstorm didn't like Sentinel Prime very much. She had a bad feeling about him but did not know why.
"Once again." Sentinel Prime continued, and the crowd of miners went silent to listen more. "I narrowly returned with my fleet after another treacherous expedition across the desolate, dangerous surface of our planet." He said, talking about his adventure. "I departed in hopes of finding the Matrix of Leadership, the key to bringing balance to Cybertron." He held his servos, a holographic display of the ancient artifact appearing to them. "I regret to inform you." The blue and golden mech's face fell to sadness as the holographic picture of the Matrix disappeared. "That we returned emptyhanded." Everyone groans and awws as their happy faces fall due to the explanation. "This is a setback, not a failure." Sentinal continued. "Rest assured, I will find the Maxtrix of Leadership, and Energon can flow again. But that's in the future. Right now, I think we all deserve a little fun!" He smiled again. "Tomorrow, there will be no work, all shifts off! Because tomorrow is the Iacon 5000 race!" Everyone began cheering when the symbol of the Iacon 5000 race appeared on the screen. "My favorite event! The high-octave race across Iacon City! Let's see which competitor can prove they are truly more than meets the eye!" Sentinal commented in excitement.
Everyone began celebrating the upcoming event not because of the event but because they got a break, even if it was for one day. D-16 celebrated, patting Orion Pax, who seemed lost in thought. Silverstorm looked at Orion. "I know that look, Orion." Silverstorm groans, looking at him. "What are you talking about? I don't know what you're talking about." Orion denies it. "Orion, you are planning something, aren't you?" Silverstorm asked, with a suspicious look on her face. "Maybe...." Orion whispered with a smile as he headed toward his recharging pod. "Orion, don't even think about it. We got enough problems from the guards especially, with Darkwing and Elita-1. I don't want you to get more trouble." Silverstorm continued as she looked at him. "Okay, alright, I won't, but I won't promise, but I'll try." Orion smiled at her as Silverstorm smiled back.
They had been staring at each other for a while when Siverstorm broke the stare as she blushed. Orion nervously chuckled as he looked at the floor. "Well, I guess we have a big day tomorrow. Goodnight Orion." Silverstorm waved as she went across the row got in her stasis pod, and recharged. Orion stared at her and smiled. "Goodnight, Silverstorm." Orion whispered as he got into the stasis pod and began recharging.
Everyone was recharging in their stasis pods when Orion woke up, peeking his helm around. "D, pssst, hey D." Orion whispered. Orion went to the D-16 stasis pod when he lightly hit D-16 helm, but D-16 remained recharging. Orion hit D-16 helm again, which D-16, online his optics blinking before noticing Orion. "Oh good, you're up." Orion smiled at him. "Come on, I have an idea, but first, let's get Silverstorm." Orion said as D-16 stared at him with annoyance. "Fine." D-16 responded tiredly. Orion and D-16 crossed the room to Silverstorm's stasis pods. "Silverstorm." Orion whispered, but Silverstorm remained recharging. "She's a heavy sleeper, remember? We had to get help because we didn't want to be late for work." D-16 replied. Orion calls, "Silverstorm, wake up." No movement. "Silverstorm, wake up!" Orion calls out a little louder. D-16 snorted as he covered his intake to stop himself from laughing loudly. Orion glared at him. Orion started to shake her until Silverstorm woke up frightened and accidentally hit Orion's face. D-16 laughed as he covered his intake to avoid waking the others. "Oh! Orion, I'm so sorry!" Silverstorm winced as she saw Orion holding his face. "I'm okay, don't worry." Orion groans in pain. "Why did you wake me? It's the middle of the night." Silverstorm yawned. Silverstorm looked at D-16 in confusion. "Orion, what's going on?" Silverstorm asked. "Come on, I want to tell you something." Orion said. Silverstorm groans that her sleep was interrupted. She followed Orion with D-16 following behind.
The three manage to get up to the roof. "Orion, whatever it is, it better be good." D-16 sighed tiredly. Silverstorm yawned again as she sat down on the metal bench. "Yeah, yeah, yeah." Orion said. "But listen, what if?" Orion said with a wide smile. "What if tomorrow, we ran in the Iacon 500 race?" He patted the servos on his chest plate to show the idea. "Huh?" Silverstorm looked at Orion as if he was crazy. "What if." D-16 tiredly glared at his best friend. "I kill you for waking me up?" He turned to leave. "That's a terrible idea, Orion!" Silverstorm growled at him. "Do you want to get in trouble?! And that's not all we will get crushed by the time we race in the first round!" D-16 nodded his helm in agreement. "No, no, no. Hear me out!" Orion Pax ran to him. "We don't even have to win!" Silverstorm rolled her optics and leaned back, shaking her helm.
"Oh, that's good because we wouldn't." D-16 replied as he turned back. "But, but." Orion held his best friend in place, making him look at Orion. "But if we just beat one transformer, it just proves we are good as they are. Not only would we go down in history, but the mining bots that did the impossible." Orion gently knocked on D-16's shoulder plate. "We, we would show everyone that." He stepped back, pointing at the large Iacon 5000 emblem projected. "We're capable of so much more!" D-16 did not like that idea. "Or we could get publicly humiliated and get busted back to Tier 1." D-16 said, turning back again. "Yeah, but at least we would've done something. You know?" Orion Pax grabbed D-16's shoulders and shook him. "Pax." D-16 sighs, grabbing his attention. "Come on, D....." Orion tried to encourage his friend once more. "Pax, we're mining bots who can't transform." D-16 placed a servo on Orion's shoulder plate. "We can't fly. We can't roll. We can't race. Come on, let's go." D-16 walked away, leaving Orion's shoulders dropped that he was not joining his agreement. "Ah, alright, fine, yeah maybe you're right." Orion turned back to look at the Iacon 5000 hologram. Orion then turns to see Silverstorm recharging, making him smile softly, and pick her up in a bridal style. Orion was blushing at how she recharged as he turned back to look at the Iacon 5000 once again. "Maybe." Orion whispered when a crazy idea formed a smirk on his face. When Orion returned to the miner's area, he put Silverstorm in her stasis pod, smiling. "Goodnight, beautiful." Orion whispered as he got into the stasis pod and began recharging once again.
