Past and Present

"So tell me what you know about their past friendship..." You say as you take a sip of your iced latte.

"They were practically inseparable. If they didn't have a class with each other, they were cutting that class and fooling around." Utahime said right before taking a bite out of her croissant.

You guys decided to have a talk about your situation with both men over coffee and pastries at the nearest coffee shop. You each took long showers right before and felt the need to get out of the apartment for the day, especially on a Saturday.

Utahime sipped on her coffee and laughed as she reminisced, "Those idiots were always up to something. You never knew what it was until it happened. But god, were they annoying at times."

You smile at the thought of both men being a complete menace to society around them, you honestly didn't know Suguru was that much of a troublemaker in high school. It made sense for Satoru, but not Suga.

You feel a frown come upon your face as you start to think about how close they once were and how they're practically strangers now. "What happened between them?" You ask as you mix your drink around with your straw, not looking up at her.

She notices the change of emotion on your face and lets out the soft sigh. "During our senior year, Gojo and Suguru made friends with a new student. Her name was Riko. Half way through the year, her and another friend of theirs died in a freak accident. Suguru was really impacted by their deaths and he kind of just spiraled into a depression."

You look up at her in shock, he never told you about any of this. But again...why would he? If he was that traumatized, I doubt he wants to relive that by talking about it.

"No one noticed, not even Gojo. I think everyone was just stressed about graduation. Suguru started to become extremely distant from everyone. Gojo would ask him to hang out, but Suguru would say he was too busy. Gojo was really confused on why he was acting the way he was but would just brush it off. He never came to the conclusion that his best friend was dealing with the deaths in an unhealthy way and actually needed someone."

You truly couldn't help but wonder why he never thought to mention any of this to you, you understand it was a difficult topic but you guys were together for a while. It really explains how his behavior at times now that you think about it more.

You feel a poke at your cheek and look up again, realizing you completely zoned out and lost yourself in thought. "Are you okay?" Utahime asks with slight concerned look on her face.

"Yeah...that was just a lot to take in. I didn't know any of this so I kind of just started to overthink a bit. Sorry about that."

"Doesn't surprise me too much, but also I'm just a little shocked he never metioned the deaths at least once to you. Especially since you guys met a couple of years after it happened." She says as she sips her coffee.

"Is it dumb to ask what happened after that?" You ask as you let out small laugh.

She smiles at your question, "Nope, not at all. Suguru had stopped speaking to Gojo by the end of the year. After the school year ended, no one really heard from him. He didn't even show up to graduation either. Like the dumbass he is, Gojo again failed to realize that his best friend was suffering and just shrugged this all off as him needing alone time. I was never super close to them, but Shoko was. She understood why Suguru distanced himself, but also felt bad for not checking in on him more often."

You take in a deep breath and let out faint sigh. You and Utahime met in college, she was your roommate freshmen year and you've been pretty good friends since then. You've hung out with her and Shoko plenty of times since they were close. You started to remember when you first told them about Suguru, they were both happy for you.

Now you started to understand why Shoko looked so happy to "meet" Suguru when you "introduced" them for the first time. Guess she was just happy he actually didn't fall off the face of the Earth. They briefly mentioned they were old friends from high school. But looking back at it, they never brought up Gojo in their conversations, at least from what you heard.

"Thanks for the trauma dump." You chuckle as you try lighten the mood.

"You're certainly welcome! Now that you know their past together, lets move onto the present. When are you going to set something up with Gojo?" She says as she starts drinking her coffee again.

"You're still wanting me to go for him?" You question.

"Yeah, why not. You need to move on anyways. Plus, from what you said, it seems like he's retired from his previous lifestyle." She answers while she shrugs.

You purse you lips to the side and lean back into your chair. You were pretty conflicted on how you felt about him. For all you know, he could still be a womanizer and is messing with your emotions just for a piece of ass. You hate to admit it, but you were curious enough to try and see if he's truly changed his ways.

"Well, he did text me this morning  while I was at Suguru's. But I haven't read it yet." You admit as you cross your arms.

Utahime looks up and stares into your eyes, "Give me your phone."

You groan and pull your phone out from your bag, unlocking it and handing it over to her. She grabs it and immediately starts to snoop through it. You watch as she does so, noticing she has a devious smile on her face. Suddenly, you start to feel a bit nervous and sit up straight as you see her typing away. What was she doing?

With a large grin on her face, she places your phone right in front of you. "Here you go."

You look at your phone and then back at her, still having a nervous expression on your face.

"Oh come on, I didn't do anything bad. I'll let you read in peace. I've gotta pee." She says as she gets up.

She turns her back to you and says, "You guys are pretty vanilla, I was expecting a lot worse from him."

You watch her walk away and scoff at her comment. You roll your eyes and mumble, "You're vanilla..."

You pick up your phone and slouch back into your chair. You unlock it and go straight to Satoru's text thread.

Satoru: Good morning, beautiful. 😘

Satoru: Being at the office on a Saturday sucks. :(((

"What are you doing tonight?  Any plans?  And if so, how can I be apart of them?  😌"

She definitely decided to be bold. But at least she got your foot in the door. You scroll through your phone as you wait for Utahime to return from the bathroom. You see a notification at the top of your screen, it was a text from Suguru. You feel confused since you never replied back to his last message. You click on his text to read what it says.

"BTW yes, I do know. Stop being gross with each other. 😒🤮 - Utahime"

Suguru Geto: Awww what's the matter? Jealous?  🤭

"In your dreams, weirdo. Now leave the poor girl alone. She's already confused enough."

Suguru Geto: Why? Cause I fucked her brains out?

The last text made you blush. You rolled your eyes and placed down your phone on the table. Neither of them were wrong. You were confused and he truly did screw you stupid. You haven't been able to stop thinking about it either. That's the part that made you even more confused. You see your phone light up from the table and you roll your eyes again, expecting it to be another text from Suguru. You grab it and unlock it, reading the text that was on your screen.

Satoru: Great minds think alike! How does 7:30 PM sound?  🥰
