jadon woke up first, amelia in his arms. he laid staring at the ceiling, unsure of the time as both their phones were in the living room.
she stirred, turning in his grip to face him, head on his chest.

he was definitely glad that yesterday happened. he knew neither of them wanted much right now and that was why it was perfect. he liked taking things slow, once he starts to feel pressure he tends to back out; like in football.

"morning," she mumbled, looking up at him with a tired smile, "you okay?"
"yeah man, i'm good," he grinned, making her laugh.
"alright, lower the volume. what's the time?"
"phones are on charge, no clue."
"you're literally wearing a watch."

"oh shit, yeah," he pulled his wrist back, taking a moment to read it, "ten past six."
"there we go," she spoke sarcastically, sitting up as he laughed.

"be quiet man. it's early, drop me out."
"mhm."
he watched as she got up, leaving the bedroom door open as she made her way over to the bathroom.

he wanted her and the feeling was seemingly mutual. he was gonna make even more of an effort from now.

-

amelia sat at the table eating cereal whilst jadon made them both cups of tea. they got up with more than enough time to spare.

"so what do you wanna do?" he spoke from the kitchen, hearing her hum in response.
"die."
"amelia."
she sighed, annoyed he didn't want to cope with humor like her, "i don't want anyone at work to know."

he brought the mugs over, taking a seat opposite her, "i get that but what else can we do? maybe you should just say if anybody asks for you to tell them you quit like two or three weeks ago. you don't have to give any details."

"but they'll want details. no one will just say okay to that."
"ask them when they're busy and say you'll explain it later, then just don't," he shrugged.
"is it really that simple though?"

"maybe it is. with the rate this is all going at, he might think you've moved back to england. where else might he check?"
"alyssa's."
"but she'll know not to say anything right? breach of confidentiality," he mimicked from having heard the phrase so often.

she nodded, "yeah but to be fair if i spoke to her we could get her to say something about me actually going back to england. she'd do that for me."
"then we're sorted," he smiled, "i told you there was no point in stressing."
"yeah, yeah."

-

"let me drop you to the gym first," she offered, feeling bad as he told her he'd walk over to it from her work.
"the whole point is i'm there if he's waiting. you can make up a reason as to why i'm chilling in the reception right?"
"yeah right that's nothing," she spoke sarcastically, hearing him laugh.
"love."

-

it's was almost three o'clock and jadon had left at one. he managed to sit in the lobby area with no problems until she was on her lunch break and they went and got food together.
after that they went their separate ways, walking back to work and over to the gym.

"nya wants these done as well," daniel dropped another load of folders beside the computer she was already typing on with a sympathetic look, "if you're not done by the time i finish my lot, i'll help."
"yeah thanks," she muttered, not taking her eyes from the screen as her annoyance grew.

twenty minutes later, her colleague was logging onto the device next to hers, splitting the large pile of documents in half and sorting through the first few.
seeing the height drop like that made her ease up, smiling this time as she thanked him.

"it's nothing. got another question for you though."
"God. go on."
"the guy from this morning," he raised an eyebrow, "he's why you're not all heartbroken?"
she pulled a face, "you think i cheated? i could never. we're only friends anyway."

"mhm. how come he was here?"
"long story."
he looked at the stack of paper between them before back at her, "we've got time."

"there's a little situation," she clicked out of the app she was on, returning to her previous page and continuing to copy stuff out as she spoke, not wanting to look at him, "someone might be asking about for me."
"right? i don't get it."
she sighed, "my ex. he called yesterday and he's extra so he might've come here today but he hasn't."

"so why was that guy here?"
"in case he came. he can be a bit-" she paused looking for a more appropriate word than abusive.
"i think i get it. just a crazy ex?"
she nodded, "something like that. i just want him to think i've gone back home; to london. then he'll stop bothering."
"will he?" he laughed as I held back my own, shaking my head.
"i hope so."

-

she got off a bit early, driving back to jadon's when she got a call from her work, making her groan and start looking for a place to turn around.

"hello?"
"it's daniel. a guy just came in asking for you, guessing it was the infamous ex."
she swallowed, processing his words, "what did you tell him?"
"that you quit a few weeks ago, something about wanting to go home."

she sighed a sigh of relief, literally feeling the tears in her eyes, "you're a life saver. i owe you one."

he laughed, "it's nothing. i just saw you left your coat here so you might've come back and it's obviously safer you didn't right now. i'll leave it at reception and you can get it another time?"
"yeah. thank you, i didn't even realise."
"no worries. i'll see you next week?"
"see you."

she hung up, immediately calling the footballer and putting him on speaker to focus back on the road.
he picked up after a few rings, "everything okay?"
"he came to work."
"fuck. what happened? did he do anything? shit, i swear-"

"no listen, listen. i had already left. i spoke to daniel about it briefly earlier today and luckily it was him he asked about me to. he told him i quit a few weeks ago because i missed home," she paused, laughing slightly as she wiped her face before turning the wheel left, "jay i think it's over."

"i'm so glad for you man. sorry i weren't there."
"it's calm; worked out in the end," she brushed his concern off, smile still plastered on her face, "i'm round the corner, see you in five?"
"see you."
