-

jadon and amelia spent the evening joking around; comedy series, fresh prince, on the tv quietly for some background noise.
it was as if a weight had been lifted off of both their shoulders, the fear of joshua coming back no longer looming over them.

"you know i've got a match tomorrow?" jadon dropped it into conversation once their laughter died out.
she shook her head, "nice, prepared?"
"nice is crazy," he blinked a few times, looking for where her enthusiasm went whilst she laughed at his dramatics.

"what?"
"you didn't even let me land."
"land then," she looked at him pointedly as he rolled his eyes jokingly.
"nah, don't want to anymore."

"you're so jarring."
"mhm, you hate me. what d'you wanna eat?" he scrolled through deliveroo, his phone now having his full attention.

she groaned, uninterested in his conversation and instead moving from where she was half laid on him, to the sofa closer to the television.

he raised an eyebrow as he observed her actions, not commenting on them; only kissing his teeth and passing her the electronic once he had put in his order.

"i'm okay," she passed it back to him, "still a bit early, i can get something later. thank you though."

he chewed the inside of his cheek, growing annoyed but trying not to display it. he knew he was more irritable than normal because of the stress of tomorrow's game.

"do you think i can wait until our sessions with alyssa this week to tell her about joshua or should i call her just in case he gets in touch with her before then?" she broke their silence after a while, "like so she knows what's going on and doesn't mess it up on accident."

he shrugged, "it's over now, isn't it?"
"i don't know. i thought so," she began to fidget, his attitude making her uncomfortable, "i just don't know if i want to risk anything."
"up to you then i guess."

silence fell over them again as jadon stared at the tv whilst amelia's eyes lingered on him.
"are you okay?"
"yeah i'm calm," he paused before getting up quickly, "can we go for a drive or something?"
she looked at him questioningly but nodded nonetheless, rising to her feet and following him out the apartment.

he unlocked his car and so she got in the passenger, watching as he stood outside the drivers door for a few seconds, taking deep breaths before plastering on a smile and getting behind the wheel.

"what's wrong?"
he gave her a look, "nothing?"
"alright," she laughed, leaning back into her seat, trying not to let herself get wound up.

they listened to the radio for a while before she spoke again, "is it your match? or have i done something? why are you making me doubt-"
"you haven't done anything, relax," he was quick to confirm, sighing, "and yeah. games make me stress, i thought i told you. my bad."

she shook her head, "you have told me. that's why i was asking if you felt prepared but then you made it all jokey. you know i listen to you, come on."
"i know, i know."
"talk to me then. don't just have an attitude."

"you've got joshua off your back now. today was meant to stay fun, let's just drop it. why don't we stop and have food somewhere instead of delivery? what you feeling like?"
