Taylor POV

I have always envied girls that find the perfect man that just seems too good to be true, but somehow like always he's perfect.

The man has a 9 to 5 in an office, he's home by 6 due to traffic, as soon as he walks in his children greet him and talk about what they learned at school, he then greets his wife in the kitchen as she's making dinner with a kiss on her head and a, "how was your day, dear?"

I envy the girls and boys who get dealt the perfect hand in life. A perfect family, perfect siblings, perfect friends, a new car on their 16th birthday, perfect boyfriend/girlfriend.

I envy it. Especially the last one, but if I am being honest I didn't get any of the other ones either really. I envy the last one the most because I don't know what love feels like anymore, I know it's sad but I can't remember what it feels like.

My life was great, I had the most perfect parents, a perfect sibling, perfect house that was just right for us, perfect friends, but it all came crashing down like everything does in my fucked up life.

Taylor is 9, Austin is 13
3rd person omniscient POV

The two siblings are sitting in the kitchen bickering over a supposed "true fact" that Taylor had asked Austin if he had wanted to know.

"Turtles can breathe with their buttholes?" Austin, Taylor's older brother, questions her back in slight shock.

"I don't know if it's completely true," A young energetic Taylor stated back to him with a slight attitude, flipping her dirty blond hair over her shoulders, and then placing her petite hands on her hips.

"Then why would you ask me if I wanted to know a true fact? And where did you even find this anyway?" Austin asked Taylor back dumbfounded.

"Well I think it's mostly true, and I just happened to see it on Blake's computer yesterday when I was over at her house," Billie sassily spat back.

Just when Austin was about to say something back to Taylor, Andrea and Scott, their parents, walk down the stairs. They make eye contact with Austin, and he instantly understood what's happening tonight.

Taylor is all but oblivious to the small interaction already leaving the kitchen to go into the back yard to play with their family dog, Ivy. Austin goes up to his room and starts packing all his belongings.

It was no secret in the household that Taylor was no where near the favorite child. When their parents had decided that they wanted another child they we're hoping for the little perfect princess they had dreamed of in their heads.

The day Taylor was born was joyful, they had the perfect little princess they had always hoped for. That was until Taylor started to grow up and become her own person. She was constantly covered in marker ink, dirt from playing outside, and almost always wearing clothes that didn't match.

So because Taylor was not the perfect princess they hoped for. Their parents came up with a plan to leave Taylor at home, and never return. All they needed was Austin, because in their eyes he was the perfect child.

⚠️

Everyone in the house is asleep, almost. Taylor is the only one in the house asleep. Andrea, Scott, Austin, and even Ivy were all standing in the living room taking in their last moments in their house.

Austin had tears silently falling down his face, as he remembered all the fun times with his sister. Andrea and Scott were thinking about how joyful life will be without Taylor messing up the perfect picture they had in their head of a family.

So they slowly grabbed their belongings in suitcases and bags and as quietly as possible they all left. Leaving Taylor utterly and completely alone.

⚠️ - it could end here but if this is super sensitive for you I would not start reading yet

When Taylor awoke in the morning it was like every child's worst nightmare. She was utterly alone.

With nothing but a note she found on her nightstand from Austin explaining how sorry he was for this happening and that he wanted to stay with her, and a note she found in the kitchen from her parents on why they left, and a you'll understand one day why we did, apology.

Taylor had hot tears running down her face to the point she couldn't see, and broken sobs and silent screams left her mouth. She was shaking in fear from it all. She felt like she was drowning and would never resurface.

Being alone was one of Taylor's worst fears, and it had just come true.
