y/n was sitting in her room doing homework when she heard an object hit her window. she swiftly turned to look in the direction of the window from where she was sitting on the floor and got up to check what was disrupting her although, she wasn't complaining about taking time away from her schoolwork. she looked down through the glass and let out a breath of relief when all she saw was her boyfriend standing at the bottom with a rock in his hand, waving for her to open the window.

"erik? what are you doing?" she asks as she opens the window.

"i missed you." he shrugged.

y/n giggled quietly at the boy and crossed her arms on the windowsill and lined her head on them, still looking down at him.

"i saw you 3 hours ago at school erik." she smiles.

"3 hours too long. hey, wanna get ice cream down by the beach?" he asks hopefully.

she taps her chin and pretends to think about it before answering, "of course. give me a sec."

he nods and she gets up to shut her window before slipping on the closest pair of shoes and leaving for the door. she makes it out the front door and the two meet in a hug in the driveway.

"hi baby." he says and kisses her forehead.

"hi." she smiled and they let go of each other and got in erik's car that he had driven to her house.

erik's hand rested on y/n thigh as he drove and the car ride was filled with bad sing alongs and laughter like it normally was for the two when they'd drive together.

soon, they arrived at a small ice cream shop in santa monica.

"hey hey hey. no." erik said as y/n went to open the car door, pulling her hand away from the handle. she held in a laugh as she watched him rush out of the car and run over to her side. he opened the door and held his hand out for her to take and helped her out of the car before shutting the door behind her.

"why thank you." she curtsied before taking his hand and dragging him inside the shop.

the cold air hit her like a truck when they entered and she shivered once she remembered that she was only wearing denim shorts and one of erik's shirts that he had left in her room on one of the many nights he had slept over. he noticed that she was cold and wrapped his arms around her's in an attempt to warm her up which she appreciated.

y/n's eyes skimmed over the many flavors, ultimately deciding to go for a small cone of pumpkin pie, as it was her favorite flavor during this season and erik went for a small cup of plain chocolate. they waited for their ice cream and headed out when they received it. there weren't too many people in shop at this time, just a a couple small families sitting at the tables enjoying their ice cream but the couple preferred to walk to the beach and have theirs while sitting on the sand.

the couple sat in silence, watching the sunset and listening to the ocean waves crash onto shore as they ate their ice cream. y/n laid her head on erik's shoulder and he whispered an 'i love you' to her before he put his on her's. y/n took another lick of her ice cream before speaking up.

"when was the last time you told someone something you genuinely felt?" she asked. he glanced down at her before looking back up at the setting sun.

"just now when i told you i love you." he answered quietly.

the girl look up at him the best she could and smiled softly before placing a light kiss to his lips.

"i love you too."

they continued to watch as the sun created a beautiful hue of pink and orange in the sky, both feeling too content in that moment to say anything else to one another.
