YEAR: 20XX
PLACE: XXX CITY
CONDITION: IN RUINS AND SHAMBLES

"..Shit," he muttered, his breathing ragged, his gaze flying upward. Something was floating above him, closing in with each second passing. Covered in blood and almost dying, his body shook, barely hanging in there. A look at his side showed the illusionary figures of his master and brother, looking for his next move, entrusting him with their lives. He knew what he needed to do. He had no other choice if he wanted them to survive.

"You were keeping up with me, for a bit," he said, face vacant, voice devoid. His hand raised slowly, sizzling electricity dancing in his palm. The man slammed his forehead to the ground right before contact, sending himself into unconsciousness. It was a shocking display of defeat, and the figure faltered, staring in utter shock.

"He gave up, after all that?" it murmured; its tone barely showed surprise. "What a waste of pow—" Suddenly, a blinding light cut through the air. The unexpected flash forced the being to shield its eyes.

As its vision cleared, a shadowy figure was standing where the man had fallen only a few moments before. The air crackled with a raw, uncontrollable force. Far too late, the figure realized: the esper had gone berserk.

In but a moment, the esper was standing right in front of the being, his hand clenching its throat with an unreasonable strength. The being coughed, scratching his hand, but he could do nothing. "This is the power you were hiding?" he choked before being flung into the sky.

In an instant, the esper was back, this time surrounded by huge boulders and debris he had taken from the ruins that surrounded them. Whole buildings wobbled in the air like toys under his supervision. The esper fought his foe with terrifying speed-smashing the unknown figure against the boulders, structures, and the very earth.

The creature struggled, fighting back, but the psychic force swept it into its grasp. What was once restrained had now become an unstoppable torrent of the esper's power.

"You've left me no choice," the figure muttered, barely able to keep itself conscious as the esper prepared to land the final blow. In a sudden flash, a gigantic portal appeared in front of the esper; its vortex sucked in the space between them.

"Farewell. Shigeo Kageyama." And with that, he vanished into the portal's void when the esper's attack finally connected. After that came the shaking of the earth in destruction.

The unknown being, by now exhausted, floated down to a nearby ruined building and collapsed onto the roof. Its energy spent, it tapped on a small device on its wrist, projecting a holographic display into the air. "Captain, he has been transported. Now, we need the psychic." It said, and then let out a tired sigh as it sent the message and the display went black.

Meanwhile, at roughly the same time but different world.

The short woman was flying through the air, green hair wildly about her face as she launched devastating attacks against another of the unknown beings. For all her effort, the figure proved hard to whittle down, and her body ached with the relentless assault, her energy waning. Still, she refused to back down: it was her duty as Number 2 S-Class Hero to defend the people of City F.

With gritted teeth, she summoned yet another barrage of meteors. "I will not be defeated! Not by you!" she screamed, her voice full of venom. The meteors rained down on the figure, making giant explosions, but once the dust had settled, the being remained intact.

It was catching up with her, and fast.

'Damn it', she thought, getting angry. She focused her psychokinesis and set a barrier around the figure, fixing it in place, before she signaled several meteors with all her strength at it, crackling the air with psychic energy.

The being didn't even flinch from the assault. She was now at her wit's end. "It's no use, a mere meteor is just pebbles to me, Tatsumaki." The figure sneered, its voice low and confident.

"Is that so?" she sneered, curling her lips into a smirk. Without fomenting any more words, she pulled a huge, sharp chunk of a ruined building from the ground and held it like a sword. Within one smooth motion, she impaled the figure, and clearly, it caught the figure off its guard.

"I've noticed during our fight. A moment ago, that meteor roughen you up but as I sent more, you've adapted to it. I sent those meteors for nothing but a distraction. Are you liking this feeling, lowly?" she asked with a smug tone, keeping the building deep inside the being's body.

But even before she relished this success, a portal appeared before her. It sucked her in, literally in the blink of an eye, without any time to react at all, out of the battle.

The weakened creature in the dark slowly eased the make-do blade out of its body, pleading for air as it staggered, the blood oozing from the wound. It reached for its wrist and turned on the hologram watch that cast a weak blue light on its face.

"Captain," it muttered weakly, "I got the psychic. but I don't think I'll make it." It sent the message out with a trembling finger. As the hologram blinked out, the being collapsed to the ground, taking its last breath.

Now, at the new world:

Shigeo got up, now fully back to normal, and winced, rubbing his head where the battle scars had healed as if they never existed. Looking around, he found a strange sense of familiarity and yet felt unsettlingly out of place. His eyes fell upon a wall that had a Japanese symbol etched onto it. 'I'm in Japan. but something's off,' he thought to himself.

With one step forward, a portal suddenly appeared in front of him. His instincts kicked in straight away, and he floats several rocks, ready for an attack; instead of an enemy, however, a woman came hurtling out of the portal to float gracefully before hitting the ground. The portal closed immediately behind her, and she had no retreat.

She grumbled, shaking off the oddness of the situation, looking around wildly. "Where the hell am I now." she muttered, clearly irritated, until her eyes finally came to rest on Shigeo. In an instant, her green aura flared up in a protective manner. The tension between them was brewing as instinctively, they readied themselves for a fight.

"Who are you!?" they yelled in unison, eyes wide with surprise and suspicion.

The two powerful espers stared in the other direction, uncertain and wary, but could sense that something was similar with the other side-an unmistakable shared connection of their powers, though different from anything they'd fought before.

Breaking the silence, Shigeo spoke first, careful not to stimulate another exhausting fight. "I'm Shigeo Kageyama, but people call me Mob. So. you can call me that," he said calmly, powering down and letting the rocks fall gently back to the ground.

The woman, feeling no threat in his tone, hesitated before she relaxed her posture. She groaned again, much less annoyed this time, as she let her green aura dissipate. "I'm guessing you got transported here too, huh?" she sighed, even now too lazy to mask the annoyance.

"Yeah," Shigeo admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "I was transported here, but I have no idea where 'here' is."

Tatsumaki looked around, her eyes drinking in the futuristic skyline. Japan, yes, but the technology, the towering buildings-it was all so different from the Japan she knew. 'What is going on here?' she thought, much more irritated than worried.

Shigeo watched her warily. "Who are you?" he asked softly, as if he had not been in an attacking position just a minute before.

She gave him an exasperated look; personal details she was not found of giving out, it seemed. "Terrible Tornado," she finally said, crossing her arms. "That's all you're getting for now."

Shigeo nodded understandingly, as if he sensed she wasn't one to say more than she needed to. The two stood in awkward silence for a moment, trying to figure out what to do next.

Tatsumaki let out another sigh, this time a bit more embarrassed, and realized there was no point in just standing around. "Hey, bowl cut," she said, the softness of her voice very slight but still sharp with her usual keenness, "Want to. I don't know. explore this place? If we were transported here, there has to be some reason."

Shigeo blinked in surprise at her sudden change in attitude and with the nickname, but he nodded after a while. "Sure, I don't want to be alone anyway." He said as the two espers went on to explore the place.
