In the days that followed, Kai was engulfed in confusion. He confided in his close friend, Mia, who had always been his sounding board. They sat in their favorite café, sipping on hot chocolate as the winter chill enveloped them.

“Kai, you’ve got to tell him how you feel,” Mia urged, her eyes focused intently on him. “You can’t keep hiding your feelings forever.”

Kai sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “What if it ruins everything? What if he doesn’t feel the same? I can’t risk losing him.”

Mia leaned forward, her expression softening. “But what if he does feel the same? You’ll never know unless you take that leap. You’re both dancing around your feelings, and it’s not fair to either of you.”

The words lingered in Kai’s mind long after their conversation ended. He returned home, grappling with his emotions. He wrote in his journal, pouring out his heart onto the pages. Each line was a testament to his longing for Michael, and yet he remained paralyzed by fear.

The more he thought about it, the more Kai realized that hiding his feelings was becoming increasingly unbearable. Every time he saw Michael, he felt an ache in his heart, a yearning to reach out and connect in a way that was more than friendship. Yet, the fear of rejection kept him locked in a cage of his own making.
