I peeped them both wearin' jackets, even though it was hot as hell outside. I caught quick eye contact with both of 'em as they sized me up."Wassup, I'm Cydris, and that's Cashton." The one with all the tattoos put his hand out for me to shake.
"Zanai," I said, barely shakin' his hand before pullin' back.
I glanced at the other dude—he gave a quick wave, but he one of them dudes that's kinda cute but not really at the same time. I ain't dwell on it, just checked my phone, hopin' they'd move along and handle whatever they came for.
"So, you Nardo's new sis?" Cydris asked, while Cashton, the dreadhead, nudged him.
I could already tell Cydris wasn't wrapped too tight.
"Uh, somethin' like that," I replied, annoyed just hearin' Nardo's name.
"You must be new around here; ain't never seen you before," Cydris said, while Cashton stayed quiet, scrollin' through his phone like he wasn't tryna be noticed. He seemed shy or somethin', and for some reason, that kinda intrigued me. At least he wasn't comin' off as thirsty.
"Never really had a reason to," I said, glancin' at Cashton again as he looked back at me.
Before anyone else could say anything, my rude housemate, Nardo, came stormin' into the livin' room.
"Mane, I told y'all to stay in the car," he said, smacking his lips and shovin' Cydris out the way.
I chuckled, glad to see he ain't just rude to me. I stayed on the couch a few minutes, takin' in my surroundings, thinkin' 'bout how my new life gon' be. Then I heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, favorite cousinnnnn!" I hopped off the couch, runnin' to her for a hug.
"I missed you!!" I said, jumpin' on her, and she held my weight; we was about the same size.
"Girl, I was too happy when my daddy first told me you and Auntie was movin' here," she said, cheesin'.
"No fr, y'all the only reason I wasn't trippin' 'bout movin' here."
"Okay, but—" she started, then looked back at the door. "Why did I see three of the finest niggas in Jackson leavin' this house?" she said, tiltin' her head.
"One of 'em Mar's son, and the other two his friends." I scrunched up my eyebrows.
"Which one?" she asked a little too fast.
"Uh, he go by Nardo," I said, tryin' to keep it chill. "Bitchhh, you telling me Nardo live here?" Her dramatic self turned in a full circle. "Girl, In Jackson all 3 of them niggas is Hawt shit, and you telling me Nardo yo damn step brother." Her mouth was wide
"They ain't seem all that to me." I scrunched up my face partially lying, for one Nardo was fine as hell but rude, Juice was handsome but he was not my type at all, and dreadhead, I liked the way he carried himself
She looked at me for a minute. "Girl you a damn
lie."
I shrugged chuckling.
"Come on though girl, we finna go to trail everybody gone be there." She said making me stand up
"Alright, I'm ready let's go." I said walking towards the door
I stopped when I realized she wasn't following me.
I turned around and saw her quietly looking at my outfit with a unreadable face.
"What?" I asked confused
"Girl, unt uh. If you don't go put something else on, that shit could slide by in Destin but never here." She used her hand motioning for me to walk
I looked down at my outfit rolling my eyes before walking to my room. I just wanted to be comfortable.
