(Shelly's POV)

"You don't usually hang out with me, Sprout!" I say the statement as if it isn't obvious. He asked to hang out at the café where he takes Cosmo all the time. I am really happy he's hanging out with me though.
"Really?" He tilts his head to the side.
"Yeah," I laugh, "but it's fine."
He keeps looking at his phone. He picks it up and puts it back down. I would ask why, but I don't want to intrude. Maybe I can figure it out.
"So," I start, "how's Cosmo?"
He sighs, "He's so tired now. We never talk anymore."
"Well, he did kinda start his own bakery."
"Yeah,"
He stands up from the table.
"Where are you going?"
"We," he corrects me, "actually."
"Okay, where are we going?"
"To see what Cosmos doing."
"Isn't he working-"
"Yeah,"
He starts to speed walk towards a small building on the corner away from our table. I stand up and follow him.
"Maybe we should let him work?"
"He's always so tired. I just wanna make sure he's not overworking himself."
"I'm sure he's okay-"
"I hope he's okay."
Sigh.
I continue to follow him. He stands in front of the window looking in. I look in too. Cosmo is at the counter staring at a batch of brownies. He must've made them.
"He looks fine, Sprout,"
"Let's just wait a little longer."
Cosmo pulls out his phone and swipes a bit. He taps something and I hear Sprouts phone go off. A loud ringtone. Cosmo looks at us immediately. He gets up and walks outside.
"Sprout? Shelly?" He looks us up and down, "why are y'all here?"
"I was gonna come in and buy a brownie," Sprout smiles awkwardly.
"You've never come here before."
"I uh-"
"Sorry," I say before Sprout sends himself down a rabbit hole, "Sprout said he was worried about you, I gave him the idea to come check on you."
"Oh," Cosmos voice gets softer, "well, alright. I'll see you tonight, Sprout. And Shelly, you probably shouldn't tell people to spy on other people."
Cosmo walks inside the bakery.
"Thanks?" Sprout questions.
"Don't mention it!" I smile.
"You didn't have to I would've-"
"You would've messed yourself up," I say coldly, not really meaning it to, "if I hadn't of said something you two would've fought. You're too overprotective, Sprout."
"Why are you talking to me like this?"
"Like what?"
"Like," he looks for a word, "so agitated?"
"Because you two fight over stupid stuff all the time." I point my finger at him.
He looks at me like he doesn't know what to say.
"I only wanted to hang out," I state out the obvious again, "but you wanted to spy on your boyfriend who's trying to do something by himself, without someone bothering him."
He's quiet before saying, "Bye, Shelly."
He walks away with a hand on his neck. He slouches as he walks. Maybe that was too much. Or maybe it was something he needed to hear.
