Cam and Oliver lay on the couch, heads resting on either end with their feet tangled in the middle. A packet of chips sits on their legs between them, both men taking small handfuls to shove in their mouths as their eyes stay glued to the screen.

It was a lazy kind of day. Oliver had the day off as his office had no air conditioning, and Cam, well... Cam didn't have anything on his schedule at the moment other than taking care of Chickpea who was currently asleep on his back in his little bed that sat by the coffee table. The two had the apartment to themselves, Brandy and Lia having gone to work or study or something (Cam wasn't really listening when they left).

Suddenly, the apartment door bursts open with a bang, startling both boys and the cat as Maddy runs in the room, waving her phone in the air.

"Guess what!" she screams, bouncing on the spot, hair flying around.

Cam tilts his head back over the couch's arm rest. "What?"

She keeps jumping on the spot, letting out a squeal at her barely contained excitement.

"I got the gig!"

Cam looks at Oliver who only shrugs.

"Maddy, gotta give us a little more info than that. A gig?"

Maddy bounces around the room until she's in front of the couch, thrusting her phone in Cameron's face before doing the same to Oliver who manages to grab it before she can dance away with it again.

"The University is sponsoring a fashion show?"

"Yes!"

Cameron blinks.

"What does that mean?"

Maddy groans, rolling her eyes before dropping to her knees beside Chickpea to scratch his chin. "It means that I get to have two whole outfits in the show. It's part of the sponsorship, two students will get to have their pieces showcased in the show, and I was chosen!"

Cam smiles, sitting up straight as he throws his arms open. "You were chosen!"

Maddy squeals, launching herself into his arms as they both laugh.

"When's the show? We should get tickets!"

Maddy grins, giving Cameron one last squeeze. "It's in three months. Students get discounted tickets, but they haven't been released yet."

She sighs, releasing her friend before flopping back onto the loungeroom carpet, a grin stuck on her face. This was it. This was her chance to get a foot in the door. If she did well at the show, maybe she'd be asked to return for another show or even work as an assistant for one of the big brands... well, it was the dream anyway. She really shouldn't get ahead of herself.

Letting out another giddy squeal, Chickpea flattens his ears to his head, not impressed.

"Sorry, I'm just so excited!"

Cam laughs. "So you should be! Do the others know yet?"

Maddy shakes her head. "I forgot they wouldn't be here."

"Maybe we can go out for dinner to celebrate." Oliver pipes in, sliding off the couch to head to the kitchen.

The boys had been sitting on the couch for too long, he felt stiff and a little hungry. Looking at the oven clock, Oliver hums as he realizes its way past lunch time.

"You both hungry?"

Maddy yells out 'yes' still lying on the ground staring up at the ceiling.

"Yeah, we should probably eat some real food."

Oliver opens the fridge, spying the salad items and a packet of turkey slices.

"Sandwiches?"

"Want help?" Cam asks, frowning a little as he realizes Oli isn't coming back to the couch.

Oliver only shakes his head with a smile. "Nah, it's only sandwiches."
