♫ Have a holly jolly Christmas It's the best time of the year
Well I don't know if there'll be snow But have a cup of cheer ♫
“Beom, this is like, the seventh time you’ve replayed that song during this car ride. I’m starting to hate Burl Ives’ voice, and I’m pretty sure that’s humanely impossible because he has the happiest Christmas singing voice ever.”
Beomgyu leaned back in his seat and pouted. “It’s a good song! We need to get into the holiday spirit before we get to the hotel. Also, I beg to differ on your choice of happiest Christmas singing voice because Frank Sinatra's Christmas album exists."
“I’m sure there’ll be Christmas music playing there too,” Taehyun said, flicking the indicator behind the steering wheel. "And I said happiest singing voice, not best Christmas singing voice. In fact, I'd rather be listening to Sinatra right now if it means you'll change the song."
Less than two weeks ago, Taehyun had gotten a late invitation to a fancy Christmas dinner at a hotel in the city, held by a few acquaintances of his. It would cost him a 40 minute drive and an expensive suit, but at least the invitation had also stated that he was allowed to bring someone along, and that was all the convincing he had needed.
He didn’t drive places very often. They lived in a fairly small town, so walking was the way to go. It wasn’t pleasant in the wintertime, but why drag the car out of the garage and try for ten minutes to get it to start when you could take a stroll that didn’t require you to pay gas money, right?
However, the closest city was definitely out of walking distance, so he had picked Beomgyu up in his sweet little Figaro and they made the trip out of town.
“Taehyun! Enjoy the snow! Enjoy the beautiful lights! It’s the happiest time of the year!” “It’s a bit hard to enjoy the snow when you’re trying to drive against it.”
“I offered to drive but you didn’t want to let me.”
“Yeah, because I’ve seen the way you trip over your own feet,” Taehyun laughed, receiving a grumble of protest. “No way I’m going to let you drive my car in this weather. At least let me complain about the snow until we get there.”
Beomgyu placed a reassuring hand on Taehyun’s knee, but the latter would argue that it was in fact more distracting than comforting, considering whose hand it was and where it was placed currently, oh no-

Taehyun groaned. “Are we seriously doing this again?”
“The entire way there, baby,” Beomgyu giggled before belting out the rest of the song as if he were Ives himself.
♫ Have a holly jolly Christmas And when you walk down the street Say hello to friends you know
And everyone you meet ♫
“We’re here!” Beomgyu announced, still in a very sing-song way. He had managed to fit in three more replays of Holly Jolly Christmas before they finally arrived at the venue.
Stories of glass windows loomed over their car as they found a spot to park. Beomgyu hopped out of the car excitedly, stomping around on the snow. Taehyun turned the key and pulled on a pair of dark gloves before exiting.
“So what’s this dinner going to be like?” Beomgyu asked, peeking over the roof of the car to talk to Taehyun on the other side.
“Fancy,” Taehyun replied. He gestured for the other to follow him towards the entrance. “Anything else I need to know?”
