Powers and Abilities:
"What if magic isn't something you choose? What if it chooses you?" - Freydis, on her magic
Powers:
Freydis possesses magical ability to conjure and manipulate water, ice and snow. Most of her powers are unleashed via her hands and controlled by her emotions. If she is happy and at peace, she can control them better, but if she is angry, afraid, or stressed, she will lose control and cause great harm to those around her, this is likely why Luwin and Eddard sought to numb her emotions as she was growing up through a potion. It is also interesting that when Freydis is truly frightened or feels threatened, her powers will act on their own accord in order to protect her.
The only way thought to conceal her powers is initially by potion and by wearing gloves on her hands, which appear to negate her icy touch. However, this is nothing but a psychological mindset that helps to keep her anxiety and any outbursts under control. Because it is Eddard, one of the few people she trusts, that claims that wearing them will stop her abilities, Freydis believes it to be true, so by wearing gloves, she thinks it truly stops her powers, as a result of said belief, they do.
Though initially Freydis' powers are raw and uncontrolled and subdued through potions, her time with the Witchers at Kaer Morhen will help her train and accept her abilities.
"Magic is all around you. It is woven into the very fabric of the world." - Freydis to Jaime
Water Magic: Freydis has the ancient magical ability to shape and manipulate water, including inorganic compounds such as liquid, gas (steam, water vapor), and solid (ice) states, including changing them from one state to another. She can use this to create various effects.
- Cryokinesis: Freydis can use cryokinesis alongside her hydrokinesis. She is able to use the ice and snow around her. She can also manipulate frozen or icy water around her.
Blood Magic: Blood magic is a rare variation of water magic. An application of the principle that water is present in every living organism. By definition, Blood magic is a technique that allows Freydis to enforce her will on an organism.
- Body Fluid Magic: As the human body contains a high percentage of water, Freydis can manipulate various fluids within the body, some with more difficulty than others.
Healing Magic: The ability to heal injuries by redirecting energy paths, or chi, throughout the body, using water as a catalyst. Freydis can use this ability to heal by surrounding a sick or injured person with water, which glows during the process.
Necromancy:
"Necromancy is the most dangerous of all magical practices. Even in the days of the Old Religion, such sorcery was viewed with the utmost suspicion."
"These are extraordinary times, with extraordinary dangers, and they call for extraordinary measures." - Melisandre and Freydis
Necromancy is primarily used to bring the dead back to life. It is one of the darkest forms of magic and is considered the most dangerous of all magical practices. Whilst initially unaware of this ability, Freydis will come to learn that she could potentially reanimate the dead by manipulating either the blood or the water within them.
Signs (Eventually):
A low-level yet versatile form of magic that allows witchers to cast spells and enchantments with simple hand gestures. Whilst all witchers are capable of using signs, witchers that had magical abilities before becoming witchers find them easier to cast and can cast more powerful signs.
