I was sitting in my car with one of my best friends Halle jacobs listening to the voicemail my mother sent me this morning "Sweetheart when are we gonna meet this boy are you gonna be bringing him to the wedding your cousin needs to know for your plus one and I know you haven't been out to dating since Owen but we're happy you've opened and met someone okay call me when you can we love you" my moms voicemail ends I put my head in my hands and sigh "what am I supposed to do you heard her Halle she thinks I have a boyfriend who I've been keeping a secret from them and I just keep lying and I don't know how to tell them the truth " I say I hear giggling "I'm sorry but your family thinks you've had this boyfriend for all year and that's why you haven't been visiting or calling " Halle say's looking shocked "yes and I don't know what to do and she thinks it's cuz of this new guy but it's really cuz my shithead ex decided he wanted to break up right before my bitchy cousins wedding and my judgy family will all be there and I haven't been to the beach house in two years and I'm gonna have to find a plus one" i say "that sucks" I hear Henry say from the back seat "yeah it does anyway we've got enough tequila and drinks let's party " i say trying to change the subject "Yeah" henry says "oh you Know Ryan's coming too henry" Halle said "oh great Ryan" Henry says "come on guys hopefully russ and aurora finished setting up " i say as we get out of the car and head into the house i don't live here but the hockey boys do I live closer to the campus in a small apartment with my cat but I spend most of my time here "hey " i say to Russ as I drop the boxes off "did you hear Ryan's coming into town for our spectacular party" aurora says "I did what's so special about this Ryan dude anyway" i ask "sex god that's all you need to know" aurora says trying to stay quiet so russ doesn't hear her I giggle "did you hear Lydia's little plus one problem" henry says from behind the counter i turn around and look at him "seriously " I say "what's a plus one problem " russ says curious "okay so my parents think I have a boyfriend and have had one for literally a year and i may or may not have told them it was true and they think I'm bringing him as a plus one to my cousins wedding in two weeks and I don't have an actual plus one" i say they all stare at me "damn " russ says "so what's your plan " aurora says "Idk" i say "sounds like you got a problem " Russ says laughing as he sets up the drinks "no really you think" I say rolling my eyes
