Setting: Waterfall Oasis: A breathtaking lake fed by a cascading waterfall.
The sunlight danced through the misty veil of the waterfall, casting a rainbow across the tranquil lake. Alec and Ash stood at the water's edge, the roar of the falls filling the air. The cool mist enveloped them, refreshing and intimate.
Alec smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I wanted to surprise you," he said, gesturing to the beautifully set picnic before them.
Ash's eyes widened as he took in the plush blanket spread beneath a willow tree, the wicker basket filled with his favorite foods, and the chilled bottle of wine awaiting corking.
"Alec, this is amazing," Ash said, his voice filled with delight.
Alec chuckled, relieved. "I'm glad you like it."
As they sat down to eat, Ash suddenly leap up, laughing, and splashed Alec with water from the lake. Alec, caught off guard, grinned and retaliated, sparking a lively water fight.
Their laughter echoed through the oasis, mingling with the waterfall's roar. Water droplets clung to Alec's hair, and Ash's eyes sparkled with mischief.
But amidst the playful chaos, Alec's expression faltered. Haunted memories flickered across his face, and his eyes clouded.
Ash noticed the change and approached Alec, concern etched on his face. "Alec, what's wrong?" he asked, voice soft.
Alec hesitated, struggling to open up. His gaze drifted to the waterfall, the mist swirling around them like a protective veil.
"Alec?" Ash prompted, his hand reaching out.
Alec's eyes snapped back to Ash, his mask slipping. For a moment, his vulnerability shone through.
"Ash," Alec whispered, his voice barely audible over the waterfall.
Ash's fingers brushed against Alec's, a gentle touch. "I'm here," he said.
The waterfall's roar enveloped them, a soothing melody.
Ash
Ash carefully turns Alec to face him, gently brushing back a strand of hair. "hey, what's going on?" He asks softly, his hand cupping Alec's cheek.
Alec
Alec's gaze drifted up to Ash's, his eyes searching for understanding. He felt the warmth of Ash's hand on his cheek, a comforting touch. For a moment, Alec's mask slipped further, revealing the depths of his turmoil. His voice barely above a whisper, he confessed: "Sometimes, the darkness creeps in. Memories I thought I'd buried... they resurface." Alec's eyes fluttered closed, his lashes brushing against Ash's palm. The waterfall's roar swirled around them, a soothing melody, but Alec's words hung in the air, heavy with emotion. Alec's hand rose, covering Ash's, his fingers intertwining with the werewolf's. "You make it quieter, Ash. You make me feel safer." Alec's voice cracked, vulnerability etched on his face. His eyes reopened, locking onto Ash's, seeking reassurance.
Ash
Saddened by Alec's confession, he wraps his arms around the taller's torso, embracing him tightly. "Hey, it's alright Alec, they're just memories," He runs a hand softly through Alec's hair as he speaks, doing his best to soothe the distressed vampire. "They can't hurt you anymore, especially not when I'm here. You are mine as much as I am yours, and that means I will protect you with all that I have." He nuzzles their cheeks together, taking loud and slow breaths so that Alec can mimic them and calm down. "What can I do to help you, hm? He whispers in his ear, releasing a calming scent that spreads over them both.
