Scene: Abandoned Warehouse, Night
Alec crouched atop a rusty catwalk, gazing out over the dimly lit warehouse. The Golden Ridge Pack gathered below, their murmurs and laughter carrying through the cavernous space. He adjusted his black leather jacket, ensuring his silver-studded knife was secure at his hip. A habitual check, more out of instinct than necessity. Alec's eyes scanned the pack, noting the mix of humans and shifted wolves. His gaze lingered on Ash, the young werewolf's energetic movements catching his attention. "Interesting," Alec whispered to himself. "This pack's dynamics are... complex." He spotted Crow, the alpha and Ash's father, standing tall at the center. Authority radiated from the older werewolf, his presence commanding respect.
Alec's thoughts:
This pack's grown stronger since my last reconnaissance. What's driving their expansion?
He pulled out a small notebook, jotting down observations:
Pack name: Golden Ridge
Pack size: approximately 20 members
Shifted wolves: 7
Human members: 13
Alpha (Crow): assertive, commanding
Young werewolf (Ash): energetic, potential future leaderAs Alec finished writing, Crow's voice boomed through the warehouse."Brothers, sisters! Tonight, we discuss our territory's future and the recent... disturbances."The pack quieted, gathering around Crow. Alec's eyes locked onto Ash, who stood at Crow's side, his expression intense.
Ash
Ash looks out at the pack from where he is beside his father. He tries to pay attention, but all his father is saying is what they hear every time they begin a meeting. Blah blah blah vampires are coming, blah blah blah, scouting parties, and more official business. As he zones out to the noise of Crow's voice in his ear and the rustling of the pack, something suddenly sparks Ash's interest.A scent gently passes his nose, something familiar and.. salty? Ash's ears twitch slightly, intrigued and alert. He taps his father and jerks his head towards a nearby hallway, asking permission to investigate. Crow nods absent mindedly, so Ash takes off, sniffing as he roams the halls of the warehouse, ears perked for any sounds.
Alec
Alec's gaze drifted from Crow's authoritative stance to Ash's restless movements. The young werewolf's distraction was palpable. As Ash's eyes scanned the room, Alec's instincts whispered warning. Don't draw attention. But it was too late. Ash's nose twitched, his ears perked. He tapped Crow's arm, and Alec's heart sank. Permission granted, Ash strode toward the hallway, his senses on high alert. Alec watched, frozen. "Damn," Alec muttered to himself. "He's picked up my scent." Alec swiftly turned to descend from the catwalk, his movements silent. He landed softly on the concrete floor, his eyes fixed on Ash's approaching figure. Alec darted toward the shadows, seeking the concealment of the warehouse's darkness. His footsteps echoed off the walls, barely audible.
Ash
He tread carefully down the hallway, all senses on high alert. Out of the corner of his eye, he notices a flicker of movement, and in a second he takes off. He chases after the figure, his eyes shining gold in the darkness and his ears pressed flat to the back of his head. His teeth are bared as he runs, a protective growl rumbling in his throat.
Alec
Alec's feet pounded the concrete, his heart racing. He'd been so close to escaping."Damn werewolf."He darted between crates, using his agility to evade Ash's pursuit. The werewolf's growl echoed through the hallway, sending shivers down Alec's spine. Alec's fangs lengthened, his vision sharpening. He could outrun Ash, but for how long? Suddenly, Alec spotted a ventilation shaft above, partially hidden by shadows. Without hesitation, he sprang upward, grasping the rusty edges. He hauled himself into the shaft, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Alec pulled the vent cover shut behind him, darkness enveloping him. For a moment, he lay still, listening. Ash's snarls and pounding footsteps receded, replaced by the creaking of the old warehouse.
