Isaac's POV:
"Again."
I try and catch my breath after being slammed to the ground for the 10th time. I attempt to ignore the pained sounds coming from Jared who decided he wanted to watch all of this as a witness in case Theo kills me. I quickly get back up to face Theo.
"Remember, keep your heart rate slow." Theo reiterates for about the hundredth time. I don't reply, just nod.
Theo starts throwing rocks at my way. That's new. All morning it's been insults or some sporadic physical attacks. This one's new. I do my best to dodge them, not an impossible feat with my newfound speed, however, he's faster. With every rock that hits me, it gets harder and harder to keep control. My breathing starts picking up and I start getting the raw feeling in the pit of my stomach that I am about to wolf out. I'm trying to count my breaths but it's not working. Just seeing Theo's smug face as he's expecting me to fail is driving me crazy. Another rock hits me in the head and I snap. I feel myself change quickly, ready to pounce on my attacker but before I can fully shift, I am thrown to the ground faster than I can comprehend. I land hard on my back. I don't even match Theo's gaze before I am shifted back, though it takes me a little longer than I'd care to admit. I finally look at Theo's cold stare. He'd almost be attractive if he didn't look like he hated everyone and everything all of the time.
"I think we should probably call it for today." Jared chimes in from the bleachers where he's watching.
I quickly and gruffly get off of the ground and brush off the grass and dirt that is now covering my uniform.
"You need to be able to keep control, you're not focused. We've been at this all morning, and you've shown hardly any progress." Theo grumbles
"I promise you I'm trying; I just don't think attacking me over and over again is doing the trick," I argue.
"Putting you through stressful situations is the way to see if you're capable of staying calm enough to not wolf out and kill someone."
"This only my first week of werewolf camp, okay? I need you to cut me a little slack." I retort.
"The alpha, potential werewolf hunters, yeah I said hunters and angry mobs will not cut you any slack if you can't defend and control yourself."
"First period will be starting soon, and I need to look semi-presentable for class," I mutter as I walk over to the bleachers and grab my book bag.
"Whatever, but I expect to see you tomorrow to train some more since we got nowhere this morning."
"Whatever you say, boss." I reply, slightly mocking him.
Jared gets up and we start walking to the school. I turn back to look at Theo, still not used to the fact that I will be seeing and talking to him on a regular basis.
"That was tough to watch." Jared breaks the silence.
"Yeah, I guess being a werewolf can be added to the long list of things I am no good at." I laugh sadly.
"True, but I have no doubt that you'll get the hang of it buddy, I believe in you." Jared pats my back.
"I'm glad one of us does." I sigh.
"Listen, you're new at this, you weren't great at swimming the first time, right?"
"Well, I wasn't good until I got bit."
"Touché." Jared nudges me.
"With more practice, you'll get it, and I am never wrong." I chuckle at the statement.
