Jared's POV:
Theo and I sit silently in his car as we make our way to who knows where with my wolf man of a friend unconscious in the back seat. Every once in a while I glance back to make sure he's still asleep but alive. He still remains in his wolf-like form. I look over at Theo who is just sternly watching the road. Man, that guy creeps me out. What was he doing out there anyway? I mean he barely likes me or Isaac. The car starts slowing down as we approach a large house that doesn't look very lived in.
"So uhm, what's the plan here? Are you going to kill me and mount old Isaac's head on your wall as a weird trophy?" I break the uncomfortable silence.
He doesn't say anything. He just turns the car off and gets out. Cool, love a guy of few words. I go to help carry Isaac in, but he just slings him over one of his shoulders like he weighs nothing. I just silently follow Theo into the large house. I don't get a grand tour; however, Theo leads me immediately down a flight of stairs into a cold basement. If it wasn't for Isaac, I would never have found myself following Theo Hansen into an unfinished basement in a house in the middle of the woods.
"So, nice house you got here." I attempt to make more small talk.
"It's not mine." He retorts.
He sets Isaac down against a wall. There is a thick chain embedded into the concrete with a large collar-like piece on the end.
"Toss me the lock next to you." He demands, putting the collar around Isaac.
I wince at the visual and toss the lock to him.
"Are you sure that's entirely necessary?" I question.
Theo finishes locking Isaac in and gives him a large nudge. His still yellow eyes flash open and his monstrous form lunges towards me. I quickly back up, tripping in the process.
"Very necessary," Theo smirks at the sight of me embarrassing myself. Asshole.
"How long is he going to be like this?"
"For the rest of his life. But he's only going to be shifted and looking at you like his next meal until the sun rises." Theo sits down against the brick wall.
I sit down against the same brick wall, watching my best friend scratch and pull against his restraints. It hurts to see him like this, and there is nothing I can do. I should've seen it sooner; I should've been with him that night. He wouldn't be in this mess if I had just taken him home.
"Since I don't think you're extreme trophy hunting, why are you helping and how do you know how to help?"
"Let's just say I have some experience with all of this."
"You know you are the vaguest asshole alive, right?" He snorts at this remark.
"Well, this asshole saved your life from being your buddy's puppy chow." I turn to face him.
"Look, I don't know how you knew where we were going to be or what kind of part you play in all of this but that snarling monster over there is my best friend, my brother." I look over Isaac, still thrashing against his chains. "If I find out you had anything to do with him turning to the freaking wolfman, I will hurt you, no matter how much you scare me." I turn back, cross my arms, and slump against the wall.
"Fair enough." Theo simply states.
Gah, I hate this guy. Luckily, Isaac seemed to tire himself out from struggling for a bit. He just sits slumped on the floor, glaring at me with his bright yellow eyes. He still looks like Isaac, except hairier, with large ears and with claws and fangs that could rip me to shreds. I look down at my phone. It's already 1:30. I sigh with exhaustion. I start to close my eyes. Bad idea to fall asleep across from my werewolf of a best friend and next to almost a stranger with questionable intentions but damn I'm tired. I close my eyes for what seems like a minute and then suddenly, I'm elbowed away.
"Wha...what's going on!?" I exclaim. Theo is standing up.
"I'm going upstairs real quick, keep an eye on your friend over there while I'm gone." He points towards Isaac. He's slightly stirring and more importantly, he is fully back to himself again.
"What time is it? How long was I out?" I ask, turning back to Theo.
"About 6 hours. The sun is coming up so he's shifting back, and he'll be awake soon and very disoriented." He says and with that, he walks up the stairs, leaving me alone with Isaac.
