October 3,2024

I woke up to the smell of bacon wafting up from the kitchen, the sound of sizzling almost comforting. With a groan, I dragged myself out of bed, pushing through the lingering haze of sleep. I had a moment of clarity as I slipped out of my room and made my way downstairs.

As I entered the kitchen, I found my brother, Diego, bustling about. He was making breakfast-pancakes, bacon, and the ever-faithful scrambled eggs. My parents were nowhere to be seen, likely off tending to work or anywhere that doesn't involve us, leaving Diego and me with the burden of holding the fort.

"Morning, kiddo," Diego greeted me, flipping a pancake in the pan. "You look like you got hit by a train."

"Thanks, you're a real light of my life," I replied sarcastically, grabbing a seat at the counter.

"Hungry?" he asked, lifting a pancake from the skillet and artfully placing it on my plate. The sight was almost enough to lift my spirits. "So, what's new? Still crushing on Sunday?"

I remained putting on a straight face, having no desire to admit how true that statement was. "You know I do," I replied, my voice barely a murmur.

"Shocked you haven't given up yet. It's been what, six years?" Diego chuckled, pouring himself a cup of coffee. "You're either really dedicated or really stupid."

I rolled my eyes. "Shut up."

"Yeah, well... no matter how hard I try, I'm always whipped for Sunday, you know?" I sighed, attempting to shrug off my emotions as I took a bite of my breakfast.

Diego grinned knowingly but chose not to poke further. As the food filled my empty stomach, I tried to push those thoughts to the back of my mind. I had other things to focus on, like my YouTube channel.

After breakfast, I retreated to my room and set up my camera, ready to film content for my channel, which had somehow amassed 4.1 million subscribers. After a solid hour of recording, during which I made a fool of myself with my latest DIY project, I wrapped up and uploaded the video.

Just as I was about to take a breather, a notification popped up on my phone. It was from a friend, Marcus inviting me to a party that night.

I know this party that's about to happen tonight wanna come?

The urge to say yes bubbled up inside me, but then Sunday's concerned face flashed in my mind. I felt a pang of guilt. She had warned me about attending parties, knowing my tendencies. I hesitated, and a moment later, I typed back:

Not tonight

Instead, I remembered Sunday's words from earlier: if I ever felt the urge to drink, I should just text her. So, that's exactly what I did.

Hey Sunny Want to hang out?

She responded almost immediately.

Yessss I've been dying to get out of the house. Let's go to the arcade

I told Diego where I was going, making sure he wouldn't worry, then headed upstairs to change.

A loose-fitting oversized hoodie with a graphic print, high-waisted cargo pants that accentuated my figure, and a pair of white air Jordans 4 sneakers that gave the outfit a fresh edge. As I glanced in the mirror, I noted how the whole look came together.

Before I knew it, I was knocking on Sunday's door. The door swung open, revealing Eli, my other half a wide smile spreading across her face. Me and Eli have been bestfriends since birth

"Spencer my man" she said, pulling me into a bro hug. Jokingly

"what's good bro " I said also pulling her in a hug returning her energy. That's our humor

Just then, Demitra appeared behind Eli. "Hey Spence it's been a while have you mastered your editing skills yet, or still causing chaos?" she teased, giving me a quick hug, her eyes sparkling.

"what do you mean a while? It's been like 2 days, I replied.

"Your point? We haven't been away from each other that long before" she said obviously joking causing me to laugh yeah

And then there was Sunday. She looked absolutely stunning, dressed in a black crop top that showcased her toned midriff and gray sweatpants that hung just right. Her hair cascaded down her shoulders, sun-kissed and wavy, and the way her brown eyes lit up when she saw me made my heart flip. I'm very much whipped I thought to myself

"Why are you looking at me like that?" she teased, her voice playful yet curious.

"Like what?" I asked, unable to hide my smirk as I leaned against the door frame.

"Like... well, like that" she pointed at my face, her expression a mix of confidence and mirth.

I chuckled. "You know why," I said, knowing damn well that my feelings for her were practically laid bare for everyone to see, including her.

Changing the topic, Sunday turned to me, casually tossing her hair over her shoulder. "You should drive today. I'm too lazy to shift gears."

"Fine, but only because I love how you avoid driving like a pro," I smirked, heading down the stairs.

The ride to the arcade was filled with laughter as we cranked up the music and sang along to our favorite songs.

Once we arrived, the vibrant atmosphere of flashing lights and cheerful arcade sounds surrounded us. Sunday and I dove headfirst into the games. Racing car games had us leaning into one another, laughter erupting from our attempts to beat each other's scores. At one point, we got so competitive that Sunday burst into hysterical giggles, and I couldn't help but join her.

"Okay, okay, Best out of three" I declared after winning one of the racing games.

We skipped around to the claw machines, where Sunday spotted a cute teddy bear sitting inside.

"Spencer, I want that bear" she nudged, pointing enthusiastically.

"What will I get in return if I win it for you?" I teased, pretending to think deeply about the matter.

"I'll give you a kiss" she shot back in a flirting matter , the words flinging out of her mouth so unexpectedly making me shocked.

I blinked, momentarily stunned. She was teasing me, most likely; but either way I'll win it for her if that's what she wants.

"Alright, game on," I grinned, confidence flooding back as I maneuvered the claw machine, managing to snag the teddy bear on my first try.

As I pulled out the fluffy prize, Sunday's eyes sparkled in delight, and she moved closer and closer. We made eye contact . But at the last minute, she swerved and kissed my cheek instead.

" I said I'd give you a kiss, but I didn't specify where," she laughed, strutting away like a boss, her confidence palpable. My eyes following wherever she went as I smiled.

"Do you know you're leading me on right now?" I teased, still reeling from the unexpected flirty moment.

Sunday just smiled, the playful glint in her eyes unwavering. "I can't lead you on if I've rejected you for years," she quipped back.

"Ouch" I clutched my chest in mock pain, feigning a wounded heart. But deep down, I knew better; somewhere in Sunday's heart, she felt the same way too. Otherwise, why would she tolerate my endless teasing and flirtation? She always claimed to be straight, yet I knew she had never shown any interest in any boys like she ever shown me. Always possessive over me, jealous when I mentioned other girls. She claims all "friends" do that

"Let's play some more games" I blurted, dryly desperately needing to shake off those thoughts.
