The days following the board meeting were a whirlwind of change. The atmosphere at Kabir's company shifted dramatically. Thanks to Aisha's impassioned plea, the board had unanimously voted to support Kabir's vision for the future. It was a decisive victory, and the news spread through the office like wildfire.

However, while the business side thrived, Aisha noticed that Kabir was still wrestling with the demons of his past. The shadows of his father's influence loomed over him, darkening his usually bright demeanor. Despite their previous progress, Aisha could sense the tension creeping back into his posture and voice.

One evening, as she was preparing dinner, Kabir walked in, his brow furrowed, eyes distant. She turned to him, a smile lighting her face, but it quickly faded at the sight of the worry etched on his features.

"Hey, what's wrong?" she asked, setting down the spatula.

Kabir sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "It's my father. He's been making calls to some of the board members, trying to sway them against me. He doesn't like losing control."

Aisha felt her heart sink. "What are you going to do?"

"I need to meet with him," he replied, his voice heavy. "I want to confront him before he causes any more damage."

Aisha's instinct was to protest. "Kabir, are you sure that's a good idea? He might try to manipulate you again."

"I can't just let him do this without standing up to him," Kabir insisted, his tone resolute. "I need to show him that I'm not afraid anymore."

"But you don't have to face this alone," Aisha urged, stepping closer. "Let me come with you. I want to support you."

Kabir looked torn. "I appreciate that, but this is something I need to handle myself. If he sees you there, it'll give him leverage. He'll try to use you against me."

Aisha felt a pang of frustration but understood the protective instinct behind his words. "I understand, but just promise me that you'll be careful."

He nodded, his expression softening. "I promise. I'll be careful. And I'll call you afterward."

As the night wore on, Aisha couldn't shake the feeling of dread that settled in her stomach. She prepared a simple dinner, but her mind was elsewhere. She worried about Kabir's confrontation with his father and what it might entail.

Later that evening, Kabir left the house, dressed sharply in a navy suit. He looked confident, but Aisha could see the tension in his jaw and the way his hands clenched at his sides.

"Remember, I'm here for you," Aisha reminded him as they stood by the door.

"Always," he replied, leaning down to kiss her forehead. The tenderness in that brief moment warmed her heart, but the unease lingered as he stepped out into the night.

As Aisha cleaned up the kitchen, time seemed to stretch into eternity. She found herself pacing the floor, glancing at her phone every few minutes, waiting for his call. The clock ticked ominously, and her thoughts swirled around all the possible outcomes of that meeting.

Finally, after what felt like hours, her phone buzzed. Aisha's heart raced as she answered.

"Kabir?" she said, her voice tinged with anxiety.

"Aisha..." His voice was strained, and she could hear the weight of the conversation in his tone.

"What happened?" she asked, her heart pounding in her chest.

"I confronted him," Kabir replied, the words coming out in a rush. "I told him that I wouldn't let him undermine me anymore. I told him that I was going to run the company my way."
