TYANNA'S POV:
I wiped my hands on the dish towel, glancing out the kitchen window as the sun began to dip below the horizon. The familiar scent of Jude's favorite takeout wafted through the air, making my stomach growl in anticipation. He was late, as usual, but I didn't mind. It gave me a few extra minutes to tidy up his kitchen, a chaos of dirty plates, a few pots from the shrimp Alfredo I made him for lunch and trash that needed to be taken out. I sprayed the apple cinnamon air refreshener, raising the scent that was slowly fading away.
Suddenly, I heard the jingle of keys and the soft creak of the door. Jude entered and my heart fluttered, a broad smile lighting up his face. He wore a worn-out T-shirt that clung to his athletic frame, grey sweats that held onto him perfectly, his v line visible. I felt a familiar warmth spreading through me, one that was both comforting and confusing.
"Hey! Sorry I'm late," he said, balancing two paper bags in one hand while the other gripped onto his keys. "Got you chinese"
"You know I would be mad, but its Chinese so.." I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. "Let me help you with that." I reached out for one of the bags, brushing against his hand in the process. A spark of electricity shot through me, everytime.
We settled at the not so small dining table, the flickering candle casting soft shadows around the room. Jude opened the bags, revealing an array of Chinese dishes, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and my absolute favorite, spring rolls.
"Perfect choice, as always," I said, beaming at him. I started at his tall figure as he smiled softly and for a moment, the air felt charged with something unspoken.
"So, how's the new song coming along?" he asked, trying to keep the conversation light, as we always did.
"It's... getting there," I replied, pushing my food around on my plate. "I'm stuck on the chorus, though. It just doesn't feel right."
"Want to play it for me later?" he offered, genuine interest lighting up his eyes.
"No, its a surprise" I said, trying to sound casual.
"Yes ma'am" my heart raced as these sweet words left his mouth.
We ate in comfortable silence, punctuated by small talk about football, music, and a few corny jokes. Jude's laughter was infectious, and for a moment, all my worries faded into the background.
After washing up the last few dishes we used, I followed Jude into his bedroom, the familiar space feeling warm and inviting.
Jude tossed a couple of pillows onto the bed, creating a makeshift fortress. "Movie time!" I squealed "Are you ready to be defeated in another round of 'Tyanna's Terrible Movie Choices'?" he teased, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Excuse me? I have great taste in movies!" He laughed, and for a moment, the air felt lighter, the playful banter washing away the weight of my unspoken feelings.
I lunged for a pillow, and just like that, a full-on pillow fight erupted.
"You suck man" Jude teased me, swinging his pillow with a playful smirk. He was so focused on his attack that he didn't see me coming. With a quick swing, I aimed a well-timed hit at his side, sending him stumbling back onto the bed making my not so cute laugh escape as he laughed along with me. He pulled me on top of him, swiftly turning over leaving my small body underneath him, his perfect body laid on me as his strong and amazing scent ran through my nose. The butterflies erupted in my stomach as he playfully bit on my neck, his soft chuckles could be heard as my I wrapped my legs around his waist felling flutters erupt slowly down there
"Ah ah, too comfortable" he whispered in my ear before crawling off me laughing "What the fuck Jude!" I yelled at her headed down stairs to get popcorn I assumed
I began looking for the movie, still flustered from what just happened. It almost felt real, like he knew what he was doing and enjoyed teasing me. He walked back in with a bowl in hand. "I got one but don't blame me if it's too cheesy."
"Cheesy is my middle name!" he declared dramatically, making me giggle
Halfway through the film, I felt my eye lids shutting, as they got heavier by the minute. I looked up to see jude looking tired himself, as we made eye contact I yawned
softly. He took it as a signal muting the tv but leaving it on as something about the lights and the soft lights flashing in the darkness brought me peace. He grabbed the furry blanket as he tucked me under, stroking my head as our legs wrapped each other. Our breathing becoming steady as we both dosed off
