Toni's POV
Ken opened my door and I hopped out the caddy. I put on my shades as Ken opened the back door so the girls could get out. When they got out I shut my door and Kenny locked the truck.
A sudden sharp pain hit my chest.
Kenny immediately noticed my discomfort."Tone, are you okay?"
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Yes, sweetheart. Just a little tired. Let's go enjoy our breakfast."
Kenny helped me steady myself, and we began to walk into the the resting.
Despite the past couple of months, we still had each other, and that was enough to keep moving forward.>>>
As we reached the restaurant, the familiar aroma of spices and freshly cooked food greeted us warmly. Kamari and Karri's eyes lit up as we entered, and I couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm. We were shown to our table by a friendly waiter who recognized us from our previous visits.
"Back again, I see! And a new face!"
He said cheerfully.
"Your usual spot is ready for you."
We settled into our seats, and I took a moment to soak in the lively atmosphere.
The restaurant was bustling with families and friends, all sharing laughter and stories. It was a stark contrast to the quiet and worry that had filled our home earlier.Kamari eagerly scanned the menu, though I knew she would order her favorite dish.
I'm just sitting here feeling a pang of guilt for everything. As I sat there staring into space Kenny put his hand on my thigh to reconnect me to the presence.
We ordered minutes later and As we waited for our food, Kenny leaned in closer to me.
"Things will get better."
I reached across the table and squeezed his hand.
"Yes, sweetheart. I believe it will. We just have stay hopeful."
Our conversation was interrupted by the arrival of our food. The waiter placed our beverages on the table, and the girls eyes widened with delight.
For a little while, the worries faded away, replaced by the simple joy of being together. After breakfast, we decided to take a walk along the nearby park. The cool morning breeze was refreshing.
Kenny and I held hands while Kamari ran ahead after Karri was wanted to play tag,.
Their laughter echoing in the morning air.
I watched them play together, feeling a renewed sense of determination.
