"Pulse"
Pulse by Toni Braxton
>>>Ken's POV
The city lights twinkled like a thousand stars as Toni, Kamari, Karri and I strolled through the bustling streets. It was one of those perfect evenings where the air was crisp, and the energy of the city seemed to lift everyone's spirits. We had spent the day exploring, laughing, and just enjoying each other's company. Toni looked at me, her eyes reflecting gratitude and a deep, unspoken bond that had formed between them.
"Mom, can we get some ice cream?" Karri asked, her eyes lighting up at the sight of a nearby ice cream truck.
"Of course, sweetheart," I replied, smiling.
"Kenny, what about you? Fancy some ice cream?"I chuckled. "I think I can make an exception tonight."
As we approached the truck, Karri tugged at my sleeve. "Can we play video games when we get home? You promised you'd show me how to beat that level!"
I ruffled Kari's hair. "You got it, kiddo. We'll have a gaming marathon. Now come on and let's go build our ice cream."

The vibrant lights of the arcade cast a colorful glow on us as we walked in. The air buzzed with the sounds of laughter, game music, and the clinking of tokens. Karri's eyes immediately lit up when she saw a claw machine filled with plush toys.
"Mom, can we try this one first?" Karri asked, her voice filled with excitement.
Toni smiled warmly. "Of course, sweetheart. Let's see if we can win you something nice."
I swiped my card at the machine for Karri, and
The claw moved with a mechanical hum, and everyone watched intently as Karri maneuvered it over a fluffy pink unicorn. The claw descended, grabbed the unicorn, and lifted it slowly. Just as it reached the top, it slipped, and the unicorn fell back into the pile."Aw, so close!" Karri pouted, but Toni gave her a reassuring hug.
"Don't worry, we'll try again later. Let's go see what other games we can play," Toni said, guiding them further into the arcade.
Kamari spotted a dance game and ran over. "Ken, come dance with me! I bet I can beat you!"
She challenged, her eyes sparkling with determination.I laughed. "You're on, Kamari!"
As Kamari and I stepped onto the dance pads, Toni and Karri wandered over to a skeeball game. After a while, we regrouped at the snack bar.
"Mom, Ken's got some moves, but I beat him!" Kamari boasted, grinning from ear to ear.
Toni smiled, feeling a sense of contentment. Despite their struggles, moments like these reminded her of what truly mattered. They were together, and that was enough.

Later that night, back at Toni's house, the living room was filled with laughter and the sounds of video game battles. Kamari and Karri were engrossed in their game, with me coaching them from the couch. Toni watched from the kitchen, I could tell her heart swelling with emotion. This was her family, her sanctuary.
"Mom, come join us!" Kari called out, waving her over.
Toni walked over and stood next to me,
I handed her a controller."Alright, this is what you've gotta do"
I showed her the steps if she got it instantly.

Hours flew by, and soon the kids were tucked into bed, exhausted but happy. Toni and I sat on the couch, the room now quiet except for the soft hum of the city outside.
"Thank you, Kenny," Toni said softly.
"For everything. I don't know what I'd do without you."I reached over and took her hand.
"You don't have to thank me, Toni. We're in this together. Always."We sat in comfortable silence, the weight of our unspoken feelings hanging in the air.
We loved each other deeply, but it was a love that transcended the need for labels or traditional commitments. We were a team, a family, and that was enough. But just as we were about to call it a night, Toni's phone buzzed. She picked it up, her face paling as she read the message. I noticed her expression and leaned in.
"Toni, what's wrong?"
Toni looked at me, her eyes filled with fear. "It's from the hospital. They want me to come in tomorrow for some urgent tests. They found something in my latest scans."
My heart sank. I pulled her into a tight embrace, whispering, "We'll face this together, Toni. No matter what."
We held each other, the world outside seemed to close in, but inside our little bubble, we found strength and solace in each other.
We had no idea what the future held, but one thing was certain: we would face it side by side, come what may.>>>
