It was the start of a new semester when Eden first encountered Dr. Winters. She had heard the rumors, of course-who hadn't? Dr. Winters was notoriously cold, a professor no one dared challenge. But Eden didn't like going in with pre-judgments. Maybe Winters wasn't that bad.

But the moment Dr. Winters walked into the lecture hall, any hope of that disappeared.

She was tall, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, her dark hair pinned back into a tight bun. There wasn't a single thing about her that looked out of place, not a strand of hair, not a wrinkle on her clothes. She moved with a kind of authority that made the room go silent the moment she stepped inside.

"Open your books to page twenty," Dr. Winters said without greeting the class. Her voice was smooth, controlled, but there was something razor-sharp about it. "And try to keep up."

Eden exchanged a glance with Amy, who was seated next to her, rolling her eyes dramatically. "What a nightmare," Amy whispered under her breath.

Eden didn't respond. She was too focused on Dr. Winters, watching the professor move through the lecture with the precision of a machine. There was something unsettling about her coldness, the way she didn't even look at her students as people. Eden had never met someone who seemed so... untouchable.
