Carmen stared at her reflection in the mirror, she sniffled, swallowing thickly. She leant over the sink basin, allowing the water to run into the drain creating a flurry of liquid as it moved in a circular motion, disappearing eventually down the plug.
Her shoulder tightened, her face scrunching into a frown as she buckled over, spitting a silver subtance into the running water, swiftly merging with the water and disappearing. Mercury.
She wiped her mouth with her sleeve, sniffling once more as she exited the bathroom.
"It's not great, but it'll do the job." Henrik's muscles tensed as he lowered the matress onto the carpet at the bottom of Carmen's bed. "Thank you," Aurora smiled faintly at him, he nodded tossing Carmen the bedding for her to put on. "All right, you girls be good. And not too messy!" He called out as he disappeared round the doorway.
Aurora sat down on Carmen's bed, sitting with her knees brought up to her chest, watching as Carmen wrestled with the comforter. She snickered as it pinged off one end, smacking her in the face.
After a good few moments of struggle, Carmen stepped back, beaming proudly before realising how depressing the bed actually looked. She sighed in defeat, falling onto the bed beside Aurora.
The dark haired girl stared down at her with a blank expression now. Carmen huffed, her cheeks puffing up as she whistled, sitting up on her elbows. "I'm sorry you can only stay for tonight, I wish—" She paused, "I just don't want anyone else getting hurt." She murmured. Aurora frowned.
"You know it's better if you aren't alone?" She reminded. Carmen shook her head frantically, "They're after me. Not you guys, I won't let them hurt you."
Aurora blew out a breathed laugh, "You're an idiot."
Before Carmen could protest, Aurora's phone rung out, the screen illuminating the dimly lit room. The ringing blared, a consistent chiming. She just stared down at it, her lips pursing slightly as she chewed on her bottom lip.
"Who is it?" Carmen hummed, tying a bow with her hair tie in boredom.
"Just Stiles..." Aurora murmured, allowing the phone to ring, but not responding. The red head rolled onto her stomach, gazing up at her. "So you're really broken up?" She questioned. She shrugged, averting eye contact, "I mean... I called it a break."
Noticing Aurora growing uncomfortable on the topic of the situation, Carmen shuffled round. "So, where are you going to stay tomorrow night?" She questioned, leaning back against the headboard. Aurora huffed, leaning back on her hands. "Probably the loft," she nodded.

My asthma's back. I'm not sure how, but it came back. Just as bad as it used to be. So now, I keep my inhaler on me all the time, just like I used to.
And it's been five days. We haven't seen any new Chimeras, and we haven't seen the Dread Doctors. We all go to school, pretending like nothing's happened, but everyone seems to know. You just walk down the halls and no one's smiling. No one's laughing. You get the feeling that everyone can sense that something's coming. They just don't know what it is, or how bad it's going to be. Every time I feel like I should do something about it, I find myself reaching for my inhaler... Like, I'm going to take a hit of it, and-and come up with some brilliant solution on how to save everyone... But I don't know what to do.
