-3rd POV-
The dog was swimming in the pool and playing with a ball while the Burnett family and Mike were eating in the gazebo which was near the pool. [Name] sat, of course, next to her father as she ate when Sydney spoke up. "So, Mike, I understand you were in New York last month." Mike stopped eating and stared at everyone on the table who stared right back at him, so he swallowed his food down and spoke.
"Yeah, I was... um..." He paused and looked towards [Name] and Marcus and pointed at them, "When I... uh do you both remember when I did the thing?" He pointed at them hopefully, but both [Name] and Marcus looked at him in pure confusion.
"You both remember?"
"Oh, the three of you should've gotten together. That would've been nice." Theresa spoke, and [Name] looked at her mother confused before looking back towards her father, who stared right back at her confused while Mike and Sydney nodded and let out hums.
"Syd, I never told you Mike was in New York." Marcus spoke and looked towards his sister while [Name] nodded because she was with her father this whole time and was now also staring at her aunt Sydney with a raised eyebrow.
"Well, you know what, Mike?" Theresa spoke up, and Mike cleared his throat, scratching his beard with his finger. "Uhm, Syd, she's going to be in town, what, another week?" Theresa looked at Sydney with a raised eyebrow, not quite remembering for how long she's going to stay in town.
"Why don't you show her around Miami? That would've been nice." Theresa suggested with a knowing smile looking between Mike and Sydney while [Name] raised an eyebrow amused and leaned back on her chair, finally understanding what her mother is trying.
"That would be so great." Sydney placed her hand on her chest, and even Megan raised an eyebrow and stared at her aunt suspiciously, "Yeah. Yeah, I could... well, me..." Mike looked towards Marcus and [Name] a bit panicked, but while Marcus stared at him absolutely unamused, [Name] was smiling in amusement and just watched everything.
"... [Name] and...Marcus, you both want to show her some stuff, right?" He pointed at them and [Name] let out a snort, muffling her chuckles behind her palm, which made her father give her a side eye before returning his gaze towards his and his daughter's partner.
Ah yes, did I already mention that [Name] is partners with her own dad and Mike? Well, I guess I didn't, but after [Name] came back from her undercover mission in Mexico she got promoted, that's when her father Marcus wanted that she be on the same team as he's with Mike, so they are all now partners.
"Yeah, because I'm in town on vacation." Sydney spoke up and looked at Mike before turning her attention towards her brother and her niece, who stared at her amused, "I'm staying at the most amazing hotel." Sydney smiled, and a grin made its way up to [Name]'s mother's mouth.
"The view, the pool. Oh, my god." Sydney raved while Marcus stared at her with a raised eyebrow. "We got a pool right here." He spoke with full mouth and pointed at the big pool in the garden.
They all went quiet and stared at Marcus with a 'are you serious?' look, excluding [Name] because she was still chuckling. "That ain't exactly a pool, man." Mike spoke up and looked at the dog swimming in the pool. "That's like a big-ass puddle wrapped in blue plastic." Mike joked, and they all smiled, excluding Marcus.
"Daddy, didn't they have any good pools when you and big sis [Name] chose this one?" Megan looked at her father and big sister while Sydney chuckled and glanced towards them. "Megan, that pool cost $3900." Marcus spoke and took a sip of his drink. "Okay, so how much do the good pools cost?" [Name] scratched her cheek with a small thoughtful expression, now that the (h/c)-haired girl thought about maybe Mike was right and the pool really looked like a big-ass puddle wrapped in blue plastic.
"It's alright, baby." Theresa patted her husband's shoulder in sympathy. "It is kind of whack, huh?" Quincy commented and pushed up his glasses while looking at Mike, who nodded quietly, making the young boy laugh.
"I gotta go meet somebody." Sydney suddenly spoke up after looking at her wristwatch, and she stood up, looking at Mike with a smile. "It was nice seeing you again, Mike." She waved at him and ruffled [Name]'s hair, gave a small kiss on her brother's temple before hugging Theresa. "Nice... g-good to see you." Mike waved back and watched the woman leave.
After watching his sister leave, Marcus turned towards Mike. "So glad you could join us, Mike." He smiled, but everyone could tell that his words were pure sarcasm. "I'm telling you, spending time like this makes a partnership strong." Mike spoke with a full mouth while chewed on his food. Marcus stood up, patting [Name] on her shoulder as a sign she should also stand up, and so she did, "Mike, can [Name] and I see you by my stupid pool?" Marcus rubbed his nose, and [Name] raised an eyebrow confused but shrugged in the end and took a piece of bread before following her father, who walked towards the pool.
"What the deal, baby?" Mike jogged towards Marcus and [Name] while [Name] chewed on her piece of bread. "Yeah, why did you call me, dad?" [Name] asked her father, raising an eyebrow, "Since we are now partners, you will also get to know whatever I'm telling Mike." Marcus explained and [Name] let out a slow hum and glanced towards Mike, who shrugged. "Uh, okay."
"Now back to you, Mike, why do you have to always come here and try to take over, Mike?" [Name] looked over to her dad confused while Mike frowned. "What are you talking about-" But before Mike could finish, Marcus cut him off. "This is my family, man." [Name] blinked and continued eating her bread while she listened to her dad and Mike talk when suddenly Marcus grabbed [Name]'s bread, making her frown. "Hey dad, that's my bread!" She frowned, but Marcus ignored her.
"Mason. Go fetch." He threw the bread, and the dog ran after it, but the dog's chain got tangled in the pool ladder and broke it, causing the whole pool to lose balance, and now the whole water that poured out of the once stable pool made [Name] and her father wet as they slipped and fell into the sea. The bushes were now completely wet, and [Name] swam up to the surface, letting out a gasp as she took some breaths and pushed her hair out of her face.
"You gotta be fucking kidding me." She muttered under her breath, annoyed and shivering from the cold water as her father swam up right next to her and took some deep breaths while Mike took some steps closer to the edge and looked down at the soaked [Name] and Marcus, letting out a laugh, "Now that shit is funny!" He laughed and pointed at the both annoyed [Name] and Marcus, who were now swimming back to land while the others were now also watching them both with a smile. Suddenly Mike got a phone call, "Oh wait, hold on." He took out his phone from his pocket and answered, "Yo, it's lowrey, you hot." He answered the phone call.
"Thirty-nine hundred dollars. thirty-nine hundred dollars!" Marcus gasped for air while he cursed, "You better pray to God you right this time." Mike said in the phone call before he hung up and turned towards Marcus and [Name]: "You both better dry off! Icepick said the Haitian Zoepounds were about to do a rip. Let's move." He informed them and left, making [Name] sigh as she and her father got out of the water and quickly dried off and changed their clothes.
