American Glam Metal Band (1986─1994)

SANGUINE SEDUCTION was an American
glam metal band formed in Los Angeles,
California. The quintet form in 1986, their
vampiric themes and theatrics made them
stand out in the glam metal scene,
making them "the best horror act
competing with Alice Cooper." The group
consists of founders Donovan Lavigne
(bass), and Dorothy Parker (rhythm
guitar, backing vocals) along with
Juno Anastopolos (percussion), Dragomir
Dimitrescu (lead guitar) and Alphonse
D'Amour (lead vocals, piano).
Not long after Poison, Sanguine Seduction
was signed to Enigma Records. In October
of 1986, they put out their self titled album.
it did not get as much traction as they
hoped. the next year , they put out their
album Bite Me , Baby! with their lead
single of the album, Down and Dirty reached
number two on the charts, and this opened
new opportunities for the band, including
the chance to open for Aerosmith on
their Permanent Vacation tour.
In 1989, the band would release Lust After
Dark, which turned into their most critically
acclaimed album. It's the first one to go
platinum. Its dark themes and sexual
nature of it helps them makes number
one in the charts. They launch the Lust
After Dark tour in the North American
and European countries. In the midst of
that tour, the release an acoustic EP called
Darling Moonlight.
The band would go dark until the release
of their fourth full-length album, Life,
Death, and Desire in 1992. It would not
exceed the expectations of its
predecessor. It would be its last before
The label drops them completely, due to
the upswing of the Grunge genre. Sanguine
Seduction, after four albums and one EP,
disbanded in 1994.
In 1997, Alphonse D'Amour bought famous
club, Smash Alley, a famous club responsible
for the fame of many glam metal bands,
including Sanguine Seduction.
This is the story of the fall of Smash
Alley, Sanguine Seduction, and the
glam metal scene , all through his eyes.
