Chapter Two:

Beams of sunlight swept through the window on to my face, waking me from my slumber. I yawned and stretched, rising up from the soft bed I was in. I didn't remember my bed back home being as nice as this one.

I looked around the room in terror, realizing I wasn't in my pink room back home. Had I been kidnapped?! My father had always taught me to scream so that anyone nearby could help me.

So I screamed.

I screamed so loud that whoever had taken me would be begging to return me. The bedroom door was torn from its hinges as a very angry, yet worried looking Alpha Hunter rushed in the room.

"What is it? What's wrong?!" He sounded out of breath, probably from running up the stairs I now remembered.

I wasn't kidnapped. I had found my mate and was in his house. Whoops.

"Oh, nothing. Just a bad dream, I guess." What a lame excuse for my original intentions.

The answer seemed to satisfy him, as he just ran his hand through hair and sighed.

"Well, it's already 10, so you slept in. Do you want me to make some breakfast for you? I already ate." The formal, business tone was back in his voice. What was it with him? He was always so uptight.

'I know how we can fix that.' My wolf purred at the images that she was putting in my mind.

"Uh, I'll just find something for my self. You can go do whatever it is you alphas do." And with that, he nodded and left through the now doorless entry.

Just then, I remembered I have no clue where anything in this house is. What a perfect opportunity to explore this massive house! I trotted down the staircase and found myself in a large foyer. There was a living room to the left of the front door that looked extremely formal, like plastic couch coverings formal. I decided that some redecorating was definitely in my future.

As I continued along the foyer, I noticed a grand looking hallway to my right. I peered down the long hall and decided to take a closer look. There was painting after painting along the walls. The paintings depicted some very handsome men and striking women.

I lingered on one painting in particular. The man on the canvas was breath taking. He had a well structured face, deep brown eyes, and a strong stature. He reminded me of Hunter in a way. There was a small engraving on the bottom of the painting, and it read 'Alpha Evander Graham James'. Next to his painting was one of the prettiest women I had ever laid my eyes on. She had long, curly black hair and piercing icy blue eyes, just like Hunter. Her olive toned skin gave her an exotic look, which added to her overall beauty. Her plate read 'Luna Josephine Arabella Rozario James'.

"They're my parents." Hunter's sudden voice startled my thoughts. I just turned to look at him.

"This is the Hall of Alphas. Every Alpha and Luna of the Blackwood pack is depicted in this hallway." We didn't make eye contact as he told me about the paintings.

"If this shows all the Alphas of the pack, where is your painting?" Suddenly, his eyes met mine.

"I had to find my Luna first. It's a tradition that both are painted and hung at the same time." With that, he turned around and left me alone in the hall.

'He's been waiting for you!' My wolf yipped with excitement. I shrugged off her comment. He didn't seem like he was too thrilled to have me around.

My stomach let out a loud rumble, reminding me that I had yet to find the kitchen. Great. It was probably noon by now and I still hadn't had one bit of food. I trudged down the hall back to the foyer, and was excited when I saw the kitchen was just across on the other side.
