Recap:

Finally, we made it back to the large plantation house. We walked inside and Hunter instantly stopped in front of me. Something was wrong, I could sense it. We weren't alone.

"Who is it?" I let my wolf get the best of me and asked what she had asked me so many times already.

The next words I heard sent a chill down my spine, and made Hunter shake with rage.

"Hola hermano."

Hello Brother.

Brother? The voice didn't belong to Hayden, and he was the only brother Hunter had.

"Why are you here? You have no business entering my pack, let alone my house!" Hunter was practically screaming when he finished addressing the stranger.

"Now that's no way to greet me after my extended vacation, is it? Didn't you listen to Mother when she lectured you about being polite?" The man seethed every last word, and reeked of sarcasm.

Hunter started to shake more violently, signaling that his wolf was taking control.

"Calm down wolf boy, I was just leaving. I just wanted to stop by and see how that pretty little mate of yours is doing, considering you didn't bother to tell me about her."

"Don't speak of her." Hunter's voice was low and threatening, scaring the living daylights out of me.

"Alright, alright. I'll come back for a visit later." His yellow eyes switched to stare into mine. "Sweet cheeks, at least have some cookies ready next time I come to visit, learn to be a good hostess." With that, the man rushed out of the house. Hunter sprinted after him instantly, leaving me in the dark hall.

Goosebumps covered my arms and neck, and chills ran up my spine. What was that all about? Tons of questions ran through my mind, but I was sure of one thing. Whoever this man was, he was creepy as heck.

Lights flooded the hallway, and Hunter came into view. He looked like he had been running hard, and his eyes were on the verge of being completely black. I contemplated on whether to speak or not, but my thoughts were cut short when Hayden and another wolf, who had a powerful aura, rushed into the room.

"Claire, we need to get you to a safe house now. We're preparing for an attack." Hayden walked towards me, reaching for my arm.

"Attack? What the heck is going on here?!" I was so confused, so much had transpired in the last thirty minutes.

"Hunter didn't tell you? Well, just uh, just listen to me. I'm sure he'll explain later." Hayden grabbed my elbow and dragged me down the hall to a small door.

"Hayden, what is happening?!" I had a very pissed off wolf on my hands and I wasn't far off myself. Before I could demand an answer, I was shoved through the small door.

'If you would be more persistent, we would have been marked by now and could mind-link our mate!' My wolf was beyond mad at me.

'Maybe if you weren't so demanding I would listen to you more often!' That shut her up real quick

I didn't hear any noise coming from the other side of the door, and I didn't know if that should be comforting or terrifying.

**Three hours later**

I had been down here for what felt like days, and I still had no clue what was going on. The amount of time that had passed was starting to make me worry about what was going on out there.

Streams of light flooded the small room as the door was ripped off its hinges. I couldn't determine who it was before I was jerked off the stone floor and wrapped in someone's arms.
