"really, thank you so much." kim joowon exitedly appreciated her friend on the other side of the phone call.

he had just let her know that she would be getting the job as an assistant manager for a group called ateez at kq entertainment.

she did not know the group, but when did she ever know the group she had worked with? it was about time she got a job anyway.

joowon had been unemployed for a whole month straight after she had gotten fired from her last job and decided she'd take a break.

"it was really no problem, their assistant manager just quit, so there was a free space. just treat me to lunch as a thank you." her friend reminded her. he had been asking to have lunch for quite a while now.

"okay, if that's what you want!" joo-won chirped before cutting the call. sitting back on her cozy couch, she let out a sigh of relief.

being the assistant manager of a k-pop group. joowon knew what this meant.

she would be in charge of schedules, planning these said schedules, meetings, coordinating the staff, coordinating the members themselves, special events, features, music videos, promotions, meetings with partners, and so on.

it was a lot, but joowon knew her capabilities. she knew that she could handle it. she had done it before. hopefully, this workplace was better than her last.

don't get her wrong, her previous workplace was fine, but those in authority were quite sexist.

to be honest, joowon wished that there was someone to nag her about getting a job quick. she wished that the only mother figure she had wasn't the voice at the back of her mind telling her what to do.

it was quite difficult to grow up with a single dad. not having someone to call her mom. unfortunately, her father also died before he could find love once again.

joowon had to be the mother she never had, and even now, she had to keep moving. she was quite relieved about the job.

now she would not need to worry about getting no sleep in the nights only to have done nothing productive. this is because now that she has a job, she could work all night knowing she is spending her time valueably.

even if she wanted to sleep off and procrastinate, she quite literally could not.

the timer suddenly went off, making a loud noise resonate throughout her apartment.

joowon quickly shot up once more, over to the oven where her lemon poppy seed loaf was.

to say that the loaf was perfect is an understatement. it was so perfect that joowon couldn't help but smile at the sight of it.

she quickly took it out of the oven and let it coll down before slicing it up and giving it to her neighboor as she usually would, given that she had no one else to share them with.

she wondered if she was allowed to bring her baked goods to work to share with the team.

she was to start work immediately the next day as the team at kq was in urgent need of an assistant manager. joowon didn't mind, though.

joowom decided to pick an outfit for tomorrow. since there wasn't really a dress code and comfortable clothes were an option, she would go for exactly that.

a loose fitting button-up with a dark brown maxi skirt would do just the trick.

joowon wouldn't say she was 'excited' for tomorrow, she already knows how working in the k-pop industry was like.

she was not excited, but she was looking forward to having a job once again.

managing k-pop groups was quite the task, and not may people like to take on the job, regardless of the very high pay.

she lay down on her cozy couch again and sighed, knowing that this would be the last time in a while that she would get to rest like this.

when she arrived at the company, it was more or less chaotic. the manager of the group ateez, song yu-chan greeted joowon and quickly ushered her to his office.

after she had signed the nda and other documents, she was put to work immediately after. she was to draft the schedule for the rest of the year, continuing fronwhere the previous manager stopped.

the most important thing to note was the comback that was going to happen in december,'halazia'.

she was to arrange the filming of the teasers, music video, and music video reaction before december 30th and the promotions, interviews, wanteez,  and events that would take place after the come back.

after she was done with that, she would go to the studio to monitor the dance practice that was happening today as the song had already been recorded and choreographed.

joowon spent about a solid hour collecting and compiling the necessary information she needed from various sources with the connections she had and the numbers given to her by yuchan.

she then spent another two hours actually drafting the schedule that was to be reviewed in the next meeting.

after joowon was done with the task assigned to her, she was then ready to move to the next one. but that would be after a much needed break.

joowon made her way to the company lounge to grab herself a bottle of water. she got there only to find two members of ateez, popularly known as matz, seated at one of the tables.

seonghwa's hair was bleached to a dirty blond while hongjoong's hair looked quite natural, she observed.

"hello." joowon greeted, bowing in respect, startling the two men who were deeply immersed in their conversation. hongjoong was the first to speak up.

"hi, i haven't seen you around before. what's your name?" hongjoong asked the pretty girl, whom he had truly never seen before.

"my name is kim joo-won, i'm actually the new assistant manager for ateez. just started today."

"ah~" both men nodded their heads in understanding.

"nice to meet you, joowon-shi." seonghwa greeted, getting up to shake her hand.

"nice to meet you too, seonghwa, hongjoong."she recited their names the same way she did the previous night while memorizing their faces.

"oh! no need to introduce ourselves then..." said a surprised seoghwa.

"yes, but... would you mind showing the way to studio a-05?" joowon asked a smiling seonghwa.

"of course! we were actually headed there, follow us." seonghwa, lead the way to the dance studio while hongjoong hung back to walk side by side with joowon, asking questions about herself.

this was going to be a long day.
