Three hours worth of recovery (and Arrianne giving Cam and herself stitches) later, they all returned to the untouched library to an awaiting Addie.
"Mommy! Daddy!" Addie yelled as she ran to hug both of them, trying to silence her sobs. Cam and Arrianne both crouched down to hug their daughter.
"You brought my fucking daughter," Arrianne said menacingly, glaring at Ana and sending a chill down her spine.
"It wasn't her fault, I had to get somebody to save you," Addie cried. "I would've done it myself, but uncle Peter wouldn't let me, and before I could ask him again, uncle Alec took him."
Cam immediately stood up and pointed at her.
"You will never call him your uncle. That asshole is far from family and will NEVER BE YOUR UNCLE! DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME!?"
Addie wailed as her face released the last of her tears.
"CAMERON! Stop it! That is your daughter your talking to," Arrianne yelled at him.
Cam took a deep breath, immediately regretting his outburst. He crouched down to her height and tried to comfort her.
"Oh, God. I'm so stupid, baby girl I'm sorry. Daddy hasn't had the best night."
"Y-y-your okay tho? Right? Alec won't come back?"
"Alec won't come back," he said.
Don't lie to her! Arrianne thought.
Well what am I suppose to do! Look at her! Cam thought back.
Arrianne looked down at her sobbing, red-faced little girl and felt a stab at her heart.
"Where's Carly?" Ana asked.
"We didn't get her yet. She's at the station, waiting to be picked up. They attacked just as we were leaving," Arrianne responded in monotone.
"Well what the hell are we waiting for? Let's go get her!" Ben exclaimed, worrying more and more for his sister by the minute.
"We'll go. You guys stay here," Ana said.
"Ana, it's too-" Arrianne began.
"No! If you come with us, somebody will be watching and know that your not dead. You may be the leader of this clan, but until we can figure out our next move, I'm calling the shots here," Ana said demandingly. "Ben! Let's go get your sister."
Ana and Ben drove in silence. They'd rather let the tension and their thoughts of the recent events that occurred fill the silence rather than continue their previous conversation before the Exaudi attack.
By the time they got to the station, Carly was sitting by the front desk. She had her palm in her face and a smug and bored expression painted on it. She was clearly ready to go. And it was especially evident when she quickly stood up and walked towards Ana and Ben.
"About fucking time," she exclaimed. "What took you guys so long?"
"Carly, something really bad happened," Ben said.
"I got arrested for mass murder, how bad could it be?" She asked.
"Peter's gone. Arrianne and Cam were attacked. The Exaudi want war," Ana said softly.
"Oh God," Carly said, her eyes widening at Ana's words.
