As the group plunged deeper into the ocean, Aurora's voice cut through the water, barely audible but determined. "Stay close. This water is getting darker by the minute."
Toby, clutching his bow tightly, glanced at Inferno, whose fiery aura was barely flickering. "How much deeper are we going, Aurora? I can't see a thing down here."
"Not much further," Aurora replied, her hand outstretched, forming a thin wall of ice to repel a passing eel. "The Water Charm is close. I can feel it."
Inferno grumbled, sending a few harmless sparks into the surrounding water. "I hate this. Fire's useless down here."
"Less complaining, more swimming," Earl quipped, twirling a small ball of air between his hands to make his sight cleaner. "We're not here to sightsee."
Suddenly, the ground shook beneath them, and Toby's eyes widened. "Did anyone else feel that?"
Before they could react, a massive whirlpool began to form, pulling them toward its center. Aurora immediately extended her hands, ice shooting out in every direction, forming a bridge that kept them from getting sucked in.
"Hold on!" she shouted, her eyes glowing with power. "I'll stabilize it."
As the ice held strong against the whirlpool's pull, Inferno glanced over his shoulder, his eyes narrowing. "Something's not right. Someone's watching us."
They had barely a moment to process his warning before vines of seaweed erupted from below, wrapping around their legs and pulling them down. "The Queen of Green," Earl spat, slices through the plants with an air disc.
Aurora gritted her teeth. "She's here."
Just then, the water in front of them darkened further as the Queen of Green emerged from the shadows, her eyes gleaming with malice. "Going somewhere, Aurora?" she hissed, twirling her Earth Charm between her fingers. The seaweed around her seemed to pulse with life, twisting and slithering closer to the group.
"You won't stop us, Queen," Aurora said, her voice cold and steady. She summoned a wave of icy spikes, shooting them at the Queen, who smirked and effortlessly dodged the attack.
"I don't need to stop you. I just need the Water Charm," the Queen of Green said, raising her hands. More plants surged from the ocean floor, reaching toward Aurora and her companions.
"Not happening!" Inferno bellowed, struggling to conjure a flame. He managed a weak fireball that fizzled out almost instantly. He cursed under his breath.
"Having trouble, fire boy?" the Queen taunted, vines closing in on him.
"Enough!" Aurora's voice boomed as she slammed her palms together, creating a barrier of ice around her team. The Queen of Green's plants crashed into it but couldn't penetrate the frozen shield.
Toby readied his bow, his voice tense. "Aurora, we can't keep this up. She's just toying with us."
Aurora nodded. "Then we don't. We move."
The group quickly swam past the Queen's entangling seaweed, breaking through the murky water. As they approached a shimmering underwater cave, the Queen of Green let out a low growl. "I don't think so."
Suddenly, the plants around her burst forth like spears, racing toward Aurora. But Aurora reacted in time, forming a protective dome of ice around them as they entered the cave.
Inside, the Water Charm floated before them, glowing faintly in the dim light.
"We made it," Toby whispered in awe, but his relief was short-lived. A crashing sound echoed behind them as the Queen of Green smashed through the entrance.
"The Charm is mine!" she screeched, sending a tidal wave of seaweed and mud at them.
Aurora stepped forward, her eyes locked on the Queen. "No. It's not."
With a flick of her wrist, she created a frozen wave that collided with the Queen's attack, causing the water to freeze and crack. For a moment, the two forces battled fiercely, but Aurora's ice held strong.
Inferno, struggling against the underwater limitations, pushed himself to the front. "Let's end this!"
Together, the group launched their combined attacks, with Aurora's ice leading the charge. The Queen of Green snarled, using her Earth Charm to create a barrier of plants, but it wasn't enough. As their magic clashed, the Queen found herself being pushed back.
"You think you can defeat me?" she shouted, fury and desperation in her eyes. "I will not be bested by someone who isn't even from Aetheria, nor who isn't better than me!!"
But it was too late. Aurora, with one final push, sent a surge of icy power directly at the Queen. The impact forced her back, giving Aurora enough time to snatch the Water Charm from its resting place.
"No!" the Queen screamed, seaweed wrapping around her as she struggled to regain control. "You haven't won!"
But before the Queen could retaliate, Inferno and Toby moved to capture her, vines and seaweed still clinging to her. She glared at them, refusing to be captured. With a swift motion, she used her Earth Charm to create a swirling burst of plant life, propelling herself toward the surface.
"She's getting away!" Earl yelled.
"Let her go," Aurora said, gripping the Water Charm tightly. "We have what we came for."
They quickly followed the Queen to the surface, breaking through the water's edge. As they reached the shore, however, they were met with an unexpected sight.
Standing tall and imposing, the Duchess of Fun (Size) towered over them, her giant form casting a long shadow on the beach. Thandor, bound in her massive hands, struggled to break free.
"Took you long enough," the Duchess called down, her voice light but mocking. "I've been waiting."
The Queen of Green, still dripping with seaweed, stood frozen in shock. "Cousin..." she whispered, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Aurora and her team, exhausted and battle-worn, exchanged glances as the tension thickened. The final confrontation loomed over them, the balance of power shifting dangerously.
The chapter ended with silence, the stakes higher than ever.
