*Chapter 26*

"Shit! What are we going to do?" I asked Jeff.

"Just let her in. If she asked about me say I'm gone." He sounded unsure about his plan

"You can't leave me alone though. Smile is already gone. And she'll be her in like 15 minutes now!" I was freaking out.

"What if I just meet her," Jeff sounded a little less unsure of this one, "we can just say the reason she hadn't met me yet was because I was in the hospital."

"How will we explain what happened to put you there?"

"Some guys threatened to hurt you so we got into a fight."

"Are you sure you won't to take a chance?" I asked "remember her lame ass boyfriend Joe is a police officer."

"We can try." Jeff said.

"Ok." I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck. He leaned in and kissed me. He pulled away when Sally walked in.

"You guys are gross." She said sitting at the table.

"It's our house." Jeff said looking at her sarcastically

"Our?" I looked at him

"Yep." He leaned in and kissed me on the cheek.

"Sally. Do to remember my mom?" I asked

"Ya."

"She's coming over again."

"Ok." She looked confused.

"But this time I'm meeting her." Jeff said from behind me.

"WHAT?" She looked just as freaked out as I felt. Back.

"Calm down honey. She'll be her in like 5 minutes."

"Okay sorry." She blushed.

"Remember your my niece." Jeff said

"Got it." Then we heard a knock at the door. I took a deep breath and walked out of the kitchen and into the living room. I opened the door. My mom instantly tackled me with a hug.

"I've missed you so much!" She held me close to her. I hugged back.

"I missed yo too mom." She smiled and pulled away and shut the door. Then she gave me a good look.

"Hope..."

"Please don't freak out!"

"Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant?" She practically yelled.

"I'm sorry mom. I was just going through some stuff."

"Stuff you couldn't tell your own mother?!?"

"It was about my boyfriend." I tried not to whisper but my voice did get small.

"Is he here now?" She asked. I nodded. "I'm meeting him." She insisted. I walked her over to the couch.

"Mom, he was in the hospital." Her eyes grew wide

"I'm so sorry! What happened to him?"

"He'll explain that. Just don't freak out when you see his face."

"I promise I won't." She gave me a warm smile. I hugged her tight and walked into the kitchen.

"Are you. ready?" I asked holding Jeff's hand.

"Yup." He said.

"Be outgoing, she really likes nice outgoing people."

"Got it." We walked into the living room where mom mom was sitting. When she saw Jeff she didn't even flinch. What the hell?

"Mom this is Jeff." He extended his hand. She shook it.

"Pleased to meet you Mrs.Daily." We sat down on the couch across from where mom mom was.

"It nice to meet you too Jeff. But please call me Michelle."She smiled. He nodded. "How long have you lived in Colorado Jeff?" She asked

"I moved here for school," He lied. He was a really good liar, "but then I got into a fight trying to protect Hope and this happened."

"I'm so sorry!" My mom was totally buying it.

"Thank you." Jeff nodded.

"Do you know what gender your baby's going to be Hope?"

"It's a girl." I smiled and leaned into Jeff. He wrapped his arm around my waist. We sat their talking for a while like friends that hadn't seen each other in a million years. Then we saw Sally walk in.

"Hello again Sally my mom smiled and waved.

"Hi." Sally ran up to Jeff and sat on his lap. She whispered something in his ear.

"good job sweetie" He kissed he cheek and she ran away. He was so good with her.

"Do you mind me asking why she lives with you guys?"

"Her parents, my brother Lui and his wife were," he paused. I felt like he was going to actually cry.

"Oh I'm sorry." My mom had tears in her eyes.

"No it's not your fault Michelle." Jeff said.

"We'll I better get going dear. It was nice meeting you Jeff." She got up and walked towards the door. I ran after her and walked out with her.

"Thanks mom." I hugged her.

"He's very darling." She told me.

"How did you not react to his face?" I asked.

"I used to work in a hospital honey. I'm used to this kind of stuff."

"Please don't tell Joe about him."

"Why not?"

"Please!" I begged.

"If you promise I can be the first one to hold my granddaughter, we have a deal."

"I promise." I hugged her again. I walked back into the living room. Jeff wasn't on the couch where I left him. I walked into my room. He was sitting on the bed

"Jeff, are you ok?" I asked sitting next to him.

"Ya. I just don't like talking about Lui."

"I'm sorry." I wrapped my arms around him. I eventually got up to go make something to eat and Jeff had some "stuff" to do.

Wait, if my moms ok, then what did Jane mean by call my family?
