It was another sunny day in Metropolis, like always. The sun is shining bright into the apartment windows as a small figure walks through the doorway.
The jet black haired woman's shoes clicked throughout the seemingly quiet apartment. The woman kicks off her heels before wandering deeper into the space.
"Kal?" The voice calls out, "Are you home?"
Clark Kent, the lowly reporter at Daily Planet, or more known as Superman, Kal-el. The Boy Scout of the Justice League, was also surprisingly the woman's brother.
Marilla Callistia, or Kent, the adopted sister of Clark Kent, had originally grown up in another city, Gotham. The dark grim, and unforgiving Gotham.
Born and bred in Gotham, the switch to Smallville with the Kent's and all their sunshine was almost blinding. The open arms, the soft smiles, they were so different from the streets of Gotham. The sheer difference made Marilla jump back for a moment.
With ten years apart, the relationship between Marilla and her brother was still strong, perhaps it was the way that Clark was raised, or maybe it was because they were in each other's lives for so long. Whatever the reason, they were like peas in a pod.
And as it seems, her brother was not home.
In Clark's line of work, things didn't leave time for the small things. Clark Kent, the clumsy journalist to the man of steel in a matter of seconds. It was always a shock to Marilla that her brother's identity hadn't been discovered yet.
She carefully put her bag on the kitchen counter before speaking, "Kal? Are you busy?"
Marilla waited for a moment before hearing a ring from her phone, she looked to see her brothers silly contact picture with a text message.
Yeah, League meeting
"How's that going?" Marilla opened the refrigerator, reaching for the leftovers from the night before.
Pretty boring, debriefs n stuff like that.
The woman smirks as she thinks of a response, "Bet you that you're looking at Batman to pass time, huh?"
Mari.
"I'm just saying," Marilla shrugs as she puts the food into the microwave, still speaking into the air, "I can't believe you haven't made a move, it's been years."
He's not into me Mari
Important stuffMarilla watched Clark stop typing, coming to her own conclusions that the meeting had finally got interesting or that Clark had found an excuse to stop talking about Batman.
The history between the world's finest was long, and seemingly never ending to an insider. Being so close to one half of that duo, Marilla knew Clark's input on Batman.
From the irritating beginnings to the accepting working partners to the school boy crush Clark had developed over so long.
Clark, of course, never acted on it. Even marrying Lois Lane to forget about it for a mere moment, before she realized that he wasn't present in their marriage. The divorce was simple, and their relationship had grown more into a loving friendship more than a spiteful divorced couple.
Somehow, their marriage had been long enough for them to have a child together. Jon Kent, Marilla's favorite nephew.
Co-parenting was rarely a hassle for the two of them, and a child with kryptonian genetics and powers, they were bound to each other either way.
Marilla suddenly snapped out of her thoughts when the microwave rang. The thoughts of her family swirling around her mind halted at the sound of beeping.
