Chapter 1 - Traumatic past and an Unlucky future?

(Fyi if you can't understand Hindi, I've bolded the Hindi sentences and below the paragraph I'll write the English in brackets, in bold aswell...)

Maya

5 months ago...

"Let go of me you bastard" I tried getting out of my boyfriends grip on my wrist, well about to be ex.

"At least hear me out, you can't just break up with me like that with no reason" he said.

For the past 9 months we've been dating and it was going good, we were close, but no too close to conduct any sexual activities with each other because we weren't too sure if we got that close, but i recently found out that he's been sleeping with other women when he goes out to the club with his friends, which broke my heart. 

"Well there is a fucking reason, your friends told me about it all Sahil, how could you go around sleeping with other girls when we are in a relationship, mein kafi nahi thi?

(Was I not enough?) 

"Woh jhoot bol rahe hai, tum unpe bishwas karogi?" he said.

(They are lying, are you actually going to believe them?)

At that moment my anger just went through the roof "There is literally a video of him making out with someone else and he's telling me this?" I thought. I then got out of his grip and slapped him across the face to which he fell on the floor, fantastic. "That's it, I'm done with you and your excuses, go die in a hole, and I'll repeat this once more for your delusional mind, WE ARE OVER" and with that I ran away from the park we were at, but while i was leaving i heard him say "I'll take my revenge" such a cocky bastard, think's I'm scared of him.

Once I got home, I sat in my room and cried silently. "This just had to happen during my internship didn't it, god certainly hates me" I thought, but now wasn't a time to cry, I got up and wiped my tears. I walked to my study table to pick up a picture, with me and my sister hugging, Aditi my elder sister, is getting married to a billionaire, Arjun sooryavanshi. It's an arrange marriage and it's a good one but my sister has her own dreams, she doesn't wanna get married now and wants to go overseas so she can go fulfill her dream, which is becoming a world famous archeologist. I don't know how she will get out of this or if she will just get married to him, but I don't have to worry about that now, there's still plenty of time left.   

Present

My parents and sister are having an argument, she wants to cancel the wedding but why is she having the big argument now of all times? All the ceremonies have been done from our side, the wedding is the only thing left, even at the engagement when i didn't go, apparently there weren't any paparazzies because the groom asked security to stand outside and wanted a private engagement, it's the same with the wedding.

I'm inside my room just hugging my pillow hoping it'll all be okay.

Timeskip to wedding

I have to admit that her groom is hot, he's about 6'3 and I can't say for sure due to his sherwani but I think he's JACKED, what am I doing, I can't think like this about my brother in law.

"Maya!" my dad screams, I ran inside and my mother was in tears, my grandmothers hands were shaking, and my dad was death staring me, this was the scariest look i had ever seen on him.
"you helped her escape didn't you" this was more of a statement than a question, he handed me a paper which was in my sisters handwriting and after reading it, I almost collapsed from the shock, it read.

"I'm sorry but I can't marry him because after that I'll be stuck as a housewife and I have many goals to accomplish, I am running away to another country and don't bother trying to find me, I have a boyfriends overseas which I hid from you because all you would've done is torture me, now bear the pressure of the situation on yourself, sorry Maya but this had to be done"

I couldn't hold it in me anymore, I fell to the floor and broke down. "My sister, the one whom I trusted the most, how could she do this to me?" I couldn't even hear what my papa was saying but when I was brought back to my senses, he stared me in the eyes and said. "You helped her escape didn't you, it was all apart of you plan to do this, Pata hai kitni bezati hogi hamari ab" I couldn't believe what I heard, my dad really thinks I helped her? a tear streamed down my cheek again.

(Do you know how much embarrassment we will have to handle now)

My father gripped my arm and dragged me to the dressing table while looking into my eyes through the mirror and said something I had never expected to hear, ever in my life.





"Now you will replace your sister, you will marry Arjun Sooryavanshi"
