Ever since that fateful day the sludge villain attacked Izuku, Izumi had been... weirdly distant.
At first, Izuku chalked it up to her being shaken up. It was a terrifying thing to go through, so it made sense that she'd act strangely after the fact.
Apparently she'd started training to be a hero, and that was taking up most of her time. He'd offered to help, but she'd turned him down, saying that All Might had gotten her a trainer.
That seemed strange, to say the least. All Might saves a lot of people, but he doesn't go around setting up fitness regimens for everyone he saves, at least, not to Izuku's knowledge. Izumi explained that it was part of his apology, and Izuku accepted that. Plus, All Might had hooked them up with the figures Izumi had asked for, so he was willing to believe that.
He still wanted to meet the guy, and Izumi promised to set that up.
"It's not like I work with him every day," she'd said. "I exercise on my own, and he just checks in on my progress every now and then. I think he's a busy guy."
"I guess a trainer affiliated with the number one hero would be pretty busy," Izuku agreed. "Tell me about him."
"He... He cares about the progress I'm making, and he pushes me, but he also makes me want to push myself. For the first time in a long time, I actually feel like I can be a hero, you know? Nothing like Aldera."
"Hm. Sounds like he has a good influence on you. That's good to hear." Izuku thought for a while. "I'm going to ask if I can watch you train and you're going to say no."
"So don't ask," Izumi returned curtly.
"Moving on, where are you training?" Izuku followed up nonchalantly.
"Nice try," Izumi smirked, and Izuku drooped comically.
"Oh c'mon, you gotta give me something-If I promise not to come spy on you, will you tell me?"
Izumi's eyes narrowed, before she extended her hand.
"Pinky promise," she demanded.
Izuku sighed and held out his hand, sticking out his little finger, which Izumi took in hers.
"Pinky promise," he agreed. "Now spill."
"Takoba Beach Park."
"The dump?" Izuku realized, raising a confused eyebrow.
"Yes, the dump," she confirmed, grinning widely. "See, most of my training involves cleaning up! It was All Might's idea: a hero has to serve their community, after all!"
"Huh. Definitely sounds like something he would say," Izuku hummed. "Well, alright. I won't come spy on you."
"Yeah, you pinky promised. And you know what happens if you break a pinky promise, right?"
"I... I don't think so?" Izuku admitted. "What, do I drop dead or something?"
"You know what happens, nii-chan," she repeated ominously.
"Okaaay." Izuku held his hands up. "Just don't forget to mention that I'd like to meet your trainer, alright?"
"I won't!"

"Your brother wants to meet me?" Yagi asked, flipping through Izumi's journal, while the author pushed a pallet of scrap across the sand.
"Yeah," Izumi grunted in exertion. "He made me promise to ask."
"Hm." Yagi hummed. "Well, I have patrol tomorrow, so the next day. Thursday."
