The Materazzi clan, led by Lucas Materazzi, had been the undisputed rulers of the Italian mafia for years. The Materazzis controlled much of the city's construction, unions, and the drug trade in the south of the city. Lucas was a man of cold precision, ruthless in his dealing and feared by all who crossed him. Yet, despite his power, Lucas had no heir to continue his legacy - and without a strong alliance, his hold on the city was vulnerable.
Across the river, the Chang family held sway over Chinatown and the eastern docks, running lucrative operations in smuggling and cybercrime. Lee Chang, the sharp and cunning head of the family, had grown his empire through sheer intellect and brutality. His influence had begun to creep into Materazzi territory, and rumours of a possible power play were growing by the day.
To the north, the Romanov family, an old and powerful Russian mafia dynasty, controlled the illicit arms trade and human trafficking rings. Dimitri Romanov, the youngest Romanov known alive, is the hope of Victor Romanov, the family's patriarch, was a man of few words but deadly resolve. While the Materazzis had ruled New York for years, the Romanovs had long plotted their own rise to dominance.
