New Jersey  ━━ 2014

IT HAD been a week since the Toronto concert and the unexpected offer from Starlight Records. Today was the day they'd go over the contract details, and Aisling's stomach was in knots.

A knock at the door made her jump. She opened it to find Sophia, looking professional as always, with a thick folder tucked under her arm.

"Ready for this?" Sophia asked, her tone gentle but firm.

Aisling nodded, trying to project more confidence than she felt. "As I'll ever be."

They settled at the small table in Aisling's room, the contract spread out before them. Sophia opened the folder and pulled out a stack of papers.

"Alright," Sophia began, her voice all business. "Let's break this down. Starlight Records is offering you a three-album deal. The first album would be due within a year of signing."

Aisling's eyes widened. "A year? That seems... soon."

Sophia nodded. "It is ambitious, but not uncommon for a new artist they're excited about. They want to capitalize on your current momentum."

"Okay," Aisling said slowly. "What else?"

"They're offering a $500,000 advance," Sophia continued, watching Aisling's reaction carefully.

Aisling felt her jaw drop. "Half a million dollars? That's... that's insane."

Sophia couldn't help but smile at Aisling's shock. "It's a very generous offer, especially for a debut artist. But remember, that's an advance against future royalties. You'll need to earn that back before you start seeing additional income from album sales."

Aisling nodded, trying to wrap her head around the numbers. "Right, of course. What about creative control?"

"That's where things get a bit tricky," Sophia said, her expression turning more serious. "They're offering you partial creative control. You'd have input on song selection, production, and image, but the label would have final say."

Aisling frowned. "What does that mean exactly?"

"It means they could potentially veto songs you want on the album, or push for a certain image or sound they think will sell better," Sophia explained. "It's not unusual, but it's something to consider carefully."

Aisling bit her lip, considering this. "And what about the tour? Would I be able to continue performing with One Direction?"

Sophia's expression grew serious. "This is the part that might be hardest to hear, Aisling. Starlight wants you to leave the tour immediately if you accept the deal."
