Niko
Our wedding is almost upon us, and as I sit here contemplating my life and its future, I've realised one thing.
I want Bianca.
How long that'll last or whether the need will ebb away almost as soon as she gives in and allows herself to belong to me is still up for debate, but in the now, I want her.
I wish I didn't; I wish I couldn't see a future where we grow old and grey beside one another with children to dote on in the goodtimesand a shoulder to lean on in the bad, but I do.
And that's precisely why I ordered a pamper day for Bianca.
We will marry tomorrow. Today, I treat her like my wife-to-be despite being cognisant that she might become the enemy again in the future.
That said, I still have work to do and tasks to complete. Unlike Luca, I won't get an extended time off just because I am married. So I ensure to wake early, leaving Bianca in the hands of the girls from the spa in town to tend to such work.
I've accepted the late shipment of weapons, redistributed them, and sorted storage for those that haven't been sold yet. At the mention of those, I've set meetings up to sell them later in the week.
I only have to get Luca's signature next to the dotted line of my work to have the paperwork filed for Dimitri to review at his own discretion.
I'm standing outside Luca's office with my hands full of evidence of my work. I shouldn't be eavesdropping, but it's hardly my fault when Emma is yelling rather loudly at Luca to basically get lost.
"Trouble in paradise?" I call when Luca obviously has the door firmly slammed in his unsuspecting face. Emma's in a foul mood, it seems.
He takes my voice as a reason to get as far away from Emma as possible, sprinting down to let me in his office.
"You'd think I was trying to murder her; I just want her to rest," he tells me quietly, almost as if he think she'll yell if he talks to loud.
"She's pregnant, Luca. She doesn't have cancer," I point out.
Ah, yes. Yesterday's pain was actually round ligament pain, or so the doctor thinks. It's evident I'm to be an uncle just as Emma is to be a mother.
Bianca did kick Emma pretty hard, though, which is exactly why I've kept her out of Luca's hair. It's like her life isn't promised if I don't.
"Our child needs their mother to be a vessel of strength. If she overdoes it now, then the pregnancy can occur complications. I do not want that," Luca sighs.
"You're being overbearing. Have you thought of approaching the subject in a different manner?" I try to be diplomatic as I place three binders of paperwork on his desk. Then, I take the remainder I didn't need signing off on to the filing cabinet for his father's men to collect come Saturday as they usually do.
"And how would that be?" He questions me with keen interest. I turn back to find him flipping absentmindedly through the paperwork on the desktop.
"You could pay someone to come and do her hair, perhaps give her a manicure? I know Bianca cracked a smile this morning when the staff showed up to do the same for her," I shrug.
Now, this is a bizarre sight. Luca almost seems so unsure of himself that he's lost.
"Oh, getting along, are we?" He asks in a filthy, sweet tone that mimics jealousy. "Are they still here?" He adds.
"In my room with Bianca," I nod.
"Good. Have one of them attend my room in an hour. Do you think that's long enough for her to haveher goddamnedbath?" He questions me.
