Niko
The corridor, which at this point resembles more of a shadowy tunnel, stretches on interminably. For over fifteen minutes, we navigate the relentless darkness, intermittent lights flickering to life as we approach, casting a soft glow that only partially illuminates the path beneath our feet. My ears pop with the pressure of the ocean above us, and with every step we take, I feel her. Something tells me I'm getting closer.
Finally, we arrive at another door. Aurelio uses his right pointer finger to press against the smooth surface, deftly opening it with a motion that I mentally catalogue for future reference. The subtle click of the latch echoes softly, a reminder of the secrets that lie beyond.
If I have to cut his finger off to get through similar doors, I'm damn well going to do it.
The door gives way to daring red walls, gold trimmings, and plush carpets that don't particularly belong.
"I'm not going any further," Aurelio murmurs, his voice low and edged with defiance. He locks eyes with Mitchel, a cool resolve settling over his features. "If you want a war, do it on your own backs." The weight of his words hangs in the air, each syllable deliberate and unyielding, as tension crackles between them like electricity ready to spark into chaos.
"You come, and when I end your little organisation, you die with them," Mitchel snarls, dragging his father into the immaculately.
As we approached the end of the dimly lit corridor, the tension in the air was palpable. Drake's voice cut through the silence, a mix of impatience and concern. "What way will we find, Bianca?" he asked, his brow furrowed as we confronted two identical doors, each adorned with a slew of security features that glinted under the flickering fluorescent lights—much like the one we had encountered earlier.
"Depends," Aurelio started, his tone contemplative, but Mitchel's fist connected with his gut in a swift, unforgiving motion before he could finish. The suddenness of the blow echoed in the narrow space, and Aurelio gasped, doubling over slightly.
"Where the fuck is she?" Mitchel barked, his eyes blazing with frustration, the gravity of our situation weighing heavily on all of us."I can't take you any further," Aurelio gasps, his breath coming in quick bursts as he glances nervously over his shoulder. "You're in Densel's lair now, not my own."
"Fine," Mitchel growls, frustration boiling beneath the surface. He whips around to face the display system, his eyes narrowing with fierce determination. With a sudden, violent motion, he fires several rounds into the control panel, sparks erupting like fireworks as the door creaks open. The blaring sirens pierce the air, their sharp, jarring wails igniting an urgency within us all, pushing us into action as the reality of our situation crashes around us.
"Branch out and eliminate anyone who comes off as a threat," Mitchel shouted to his comrades, urgency ringing in his voice, as he surged ahead, tightly gripping his father in a harsh embrace. The tension in the air was palpable as he pushed through the chaos, determination etched across his features.
Luca's voice cut through the thick tension like a sharpened blade. With a calm authority, he addressed our men, his dark eyes glinting with a mixture of empathy and resolve. "Let's not be too severe," he cautioned, gesturing with a sweeping motion that encompassed the group before us. "If they appear innocent, we must remember that they may not have chosen to be here." He took a breath, grounding himself before continuing, "Disarm them carefully, then we can move forward." His words hung in the air, a reminder of the complexity of the situation that lay before us.
"Luca, we can't be sure if they are trustworthy," I whisper urgently, my breath quickening as I sprint to keep pace with him, the air thick with tension.
