Secret Matchmaker

It was like any other day, Eggman was attacking the village again! Sonic and his team fought against his robots and won; the usual. The gang went to Meh Burger. Sonic was eating chili dogs while the rest ate a burger. "Sonic, is everything ok?" Amy asked catching on to the blue one's quietness.

Sonic snapped back to reality and responded. "O-oh, Y-yeah Amy! Everything's fine," Tails gave him a look of disapproval.

"Sonic, I think you should tell them already," Tails said.

"Tell us what, did I miss out on something?" Knuckles asked as he scratched the back of his head.

"Did you have an encounter with an evil alien? OR ROBOT?" Sticks asked dramatically. Amy face palmed and shushed her girlfriend who was too loud.

"Sticks, what did we talk about!?" She scolded.

"Oh, right! Sorry hehe," Sticks chuckled.

"Sonic, you don't have to do it here, but maybe at my workshop, we can all talk," Tails whispered.

"Tails, I don't think this is a good idea!" Sonic whispered back.

"Sonic, this isn't healthy! You can't just keep this all to yourself, or just between you and me! Tell them, they can help you," Tails reassured. "Please Sonic, just try!"

Sonic sighed. "Alright, fine!"

"So what's going on?" Amy asked.

"I'll tell you at Tails workshop, I don't want anyone else to hear," Sonic said. Everyone agreed and ate their meals before heading off to Tails Workshop.

During their walk, Tails caught eye of a poster that said "Secret Matchmaker!" Tails took a picture of it and thought, 'This might be good for Sonic!' He smiled at his idea. Then Rouge came by taking a picture as well before flying away. As the group got to the workshop they kept asking what their friend wanted to talk about when he kept telling them to wait and that it was very private to him. They had finally understood and just started talking about their adventures and hangouts. Time passed by quickly as they arrived at the workshop and entered. Tails closed the door while the rest stood before Sonic waiting to hear what he had to say.

"Ok guys, what I have to say sounds stupid," Sonic said uncomfortably having to tell his friends his feelings. Usually, he was just his cocky self. How would they react if they saw his vulnerable side? Would they think he was weak or stupid?

"Sonic! I already told you, it's not stupid, just let us help you please! How can we if you don't tell us how you feel?" Tails scolded, though he had a point. Sonic couldn't handle it alone, even after telling Tails, he didn't know what to do. He felt so lost and upset about everything. But in his eyes, he is supposed to be strong for his friends!

"I'm sorry, but lately.....I....I-I-I-I"

Knuckles walked up and hugged his friend. "Sonic, whatever is wrong we're here for you buddy! Don't ever think what you feel is stupid. I act stupid all the time," he said as they pulled away. "But do I let that stop me from being me? NO!" Knuckles said proudly. Sonic chuckled.

"Remember when Sticks and I told you guys we were dating? That wasn't easy! We feared you wouldn't accept us, but you did!" Amy said.

"Plus, you told us you were gay Sonic. There's no reason to hi-HOLD UP! You have a crush on a guy?" Sticks asked.

"No, but right now everything is frustrating," Sonic admitted.

"What happened?" Amy asked.

Sonic sighed. "I noticed that because I'm the hero everyone wants to get with me, and I know it's not for me, but because I'm the hero in their eyes, and that's all they see to spike up interest. They don't consider me for who I really am and it's upsetting! All I really want is for someone to love me for who I am and not just as the hero! Every time I see couples together it makes me realize I can't have that. It's not fair that you all found someone while I haven't!" He said. His friends could tell he was distressed due to the tone of his voice and facial expressions.

Sonic's ears pinned down as a tear escaped. "I'm sorry guys, I'm supposed to be strong! Not some weakling. I'm happy for you all, I really am. I just feel like no one can understand that, I'm sorry!" He said feeling ashamed. He hugged himself looking down; refusing to look at his friends, expecting disgusted faces. Instead, he felt pairs of arms all over him. He looked up and everyone was hugging him.

"Sonic, don't ever think that just because you're the hero, that you should not have these feelings. They are valid, and at the end of the day, you're a mobian like the rest of us," Amy said.

"The right mobian is out there, it's only a matter of time," Knuckles said.

"Thanks guys," Sonic said as he rubbed his eyes.

"There's the saying of right person, right time. Then there's also right person, WRONG time!" Tails said.

"True," Sonic chuckled.

"Don't worry Sonic, one day you'll meet your special someone and he'll sweep you off your feet and take your hand in marriage!" Amy said.

"Too early to be saying that Amy!" Sticks scolded.

Everyone burst out laughing. "Thanks guys, I really needed that!" Sonic smiled.

"That reminds me, Sonic there's an app I found called Secret Matchmaker," Tails said.

"What's that?" Sonic asked.

"It's an online dating app where you create an account and answer questions. And you will get a match and meet them in person in three months at a special event! The only thing is that it's a secret! You won't know who your partner is until you meet at the event! You have to keep your identities a secret!" Tails said.

"Wow, actually that might be good Sonic. You could get a match!" Amy said.

"It's worth a try," Sonic said. "Though not sure about the secret part," he said."Alright, I'll do it!"

"Just be careful, they better treat you well!" Sticks said.

"Think about it Sonic, it's a match! If you get a match then that means you two have a lot in common. There's a chance that you'll find your soulmate Sonic. And if it works out, great. If not, then there's always a next time!" Tails said.

"Yeah, you're right, maybe they'll see me as me and not as, just the hero!" Sonic said.

"Yeah, and they won't be like that jerk who dumped you years back!" Knuckles said. Sonic sighed remembering the time he once had someone, but it didn't work out.

"Knuckles!" the others scolded.

"You know Sonic doesn't like mentioning that hedgehog!" Amy said.

"Oh, sorry Sonic," Knuckles said feeling ashamed.

"It's fine," Sonic said. "The past is the past, it's over!"
