Step dad.

Part 7

I woke up early on Sunday morning and it was warm, I got out of bed and headed down the stairs to make breakfast.  I opened the fridge door took out a pack of eggs, bacon, and orange juice and closed the fridge door when Brian walked in "Morning Phillip" Brian said approaching me "Morning Brian" I replied.

I asked Brian if he could help me with breakfast, and to my surprise he did.  Brian set the kitchen table then Mother and Father joined us, while they were talking I just ate and said nothing "Phillip, I hung your suit shorts out for church in your bedroom" Mother said finishing off her pint of milk "Thank you" came my reply.  Once breakfast was over I washed the dishes and cleaned up the floor, went back to my bedroom saw my brown suit shorts hanging on my wardrobe, had a shower put on my suit shorts fixed my knee socks then put on my brown shoes.

We went to church in Father's car. Brian went in his. Father pulled into the church car park, parked, and I got out. "Phillip! Don't wander off; stay with us," Mother said as she pulled me towards her. The church was packed, and the service went on for a while. It ended, and we left the church. Mother and Father were talking to Miss Watson when from behind me, "Hello Phillip," I turned around and saw Susan. "Hello Susan," I replied.

Susan wore a light yellow frilly summer dress with a ribbon, white lace ankle socks, black Mary Jane shoes, and plated pigtails with yellow bows. We chatted for a while. "Phillip, you are more than welcome to see all my clothes in my bedroom," Susan said with a smile. I thought for a second. "Thank you, Susan," I replied.

Father drove up the driveway, and we got out of his car and entered the house. "Mother and Father, do you want tea?" I asked them both. That would be great, Phillip," Father replied. I went into the kitchen and got everything ready. I took the tea into the front room and put it down on the table. "Phillip! I look after the tea," Mother said as she poured the tea into the cups. "That's good, Mother," I replied, leaving the front room.

I was sitting at the garden table reading my book on space travel when Brian walked out from the back of the house. "There you are, Phillip!" Brian said, walking over to me. "Brian, do you want some orange juice?" I asked him. "Thank you, Phillip."  While we were talking, we heard Mother in the kitchen. She opened the kitchen window. "Come on, boys, give me a hand to make lunch. "

As we entered the kitchen from the back door, Mother handed me an apron "Phillip put it on" I took the apron from Mother and put it on "Phillip start chopping the vegetables and once you have done that, the potatoes" Mother said with a smile.  Brian kept an eye on the roast lamb and roast potatoes, he looked over at me wearing a mother frilly apron peeling the potatoes "Phillip want a hand" Brian asked "Brian Phillip is doing fine, you do the job that I asked you to do" Mother replied.

I set the kitchen table still wearing the apron, Mother walked over to me from the back "Phillip! Your bow to your apron is losing" I look around to see Mother fixing it "Make sure you have your bow to your apron Phillip, is fixed probably, sweetie" said Mother.  Brian took the lamb out with the roast potatoes, cut the meat up, and everything was ready to eat before I took off the apron, Father walked in and saw me "Phillip, you make a wonderful daughter" Brian laughed at what Father said.

"Phillip keep your apron on to keep your clothes clean" "Mother!" I replied "Do as I say, young man" I tied the ribbon on the apron and sat at the kitchen table.  After lunch, I helped Mother with the washing up, and then she asked for my help in the garden, once that was done I went back upstairs to my bedroom, and lay back on my bed when Brian walked in "Alright sis" Brian said sitting down beside me "Not funny Brian" I replied getting up from my bed "Is there a reason why you are in my bedroom, brian" I asked, Brian looked at me "I came here to ask, what are your plans for tomorrow!".

"Father is taking me to get my hair cut in the morning, Brian and then I am going to the park.  There is a summer festival starting, so spend a few hours there and see what the day brings" I said getting my laptop out of my bag "Are you spending the day with your friends? Brian" "Yes Phillip" Brian replied "You're going to the lake?" I said putting my laptop down on my desk "Probably Phillip but not for the whole day, maybe we could do something together" Brian said getting off my bed.

I did not say a word back just smiled "Phillip! Did you not hear me" Brian was getting a bit impatient at me for not answering his question, I looked over at him "Thank you Brian for the offer, but I have to say no and another thing, you better control your temper at me" I replied Brian left my bedroom.

It was gone midnight and I was still at my laptop planning my summer.
