Tiana's POV

It was the day of the highly anticipated award night, and my wife, was a bundle of nerves and excitement as she prepared for the event. As the successful CEO of a tech company, she was being honored for her innovative work and leadership in the industry. The house was buzzing with activity as stylists, makeup artists, and assistants flitted around, making sure Ashantii looked perfect for the occasion.

I watched her from the doorway of our bedroom, a proud smile tugging at the corners of my lips. Ashantii was radiant in her designer gown, her dark hair cascading down her shoulders in loose waves. But something felt off. She had been acting strangely all day, keeping me away from her phone and laptop, saying she wanted me to relax and enjoy the evening without any distractions.

I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at me as I observed her behavior. There was a tension in the air, a heaviness that I couldn't quite pinpoint. As Ashantii applied her makeup with practiced precision, I decided to confront her.

"Are you okay, baby?" I asked, my voice gentle but insistent.

She turned to me, her eyes glittering with a mix of emotions. "I'm fine, my love. Just a little nervous about tonight, that's all."

But her words didn't ring true, and I knew there was more to her unease than just pre-award jitters. I pressed her further, my concern growing by the minute.

"You sure everythings okay ?" I asked, trying to sound casual despite the anxious thoughts swirling in my mind.

Ashantii nodded, her eyes avoiding mine. "It's really nothing, just pre-show jitters, you know? I'll be fine. You don't need to worry about me."

She reached out and pulled me towards her, planting a kiss on my lips. It felt different this time, almost as if she was trying to distract me from something. I couldn't shake off the feeling that she was keeping something from me.

"Okay, my love. If you need me, I'll be in the kitchen," I said, pulling away gently and leaving her in the room.

Back in the room, the remnants of the make-up artists' conversation echoed in my mind.As they were doing my make up they were discussing a very recent murder case.I couldn't help but listen to them discuss it.

As I sat at the kitchen island, sipping on my water and nibbling on the fresh fruit, my mind couldn't help but wander back to the conversation I had overheard between the make-up artists. The words echoed in my head, sending shivers down my spine.

"Couldn't even identify the body... what monster would do such a thing..."

"What monster would do such a thing..." I mumbled to myself, trying to piece together what they were talking about. Had something terrible happened in our neighborhood?

I couldn't shake off the unease that had settled in the pit of my stomach.Could we have a murderer on the lose? Was this their first attack?

Will the cops ever capture them?
