We are still arguing about who's gonna go inside when we pull up to the store. " Dude you've been here way too many times and have found nothing. Time for the master to show you how it's done."

All I can do is glare while Nick scrambles out of the car. I guess he could feel the frustration radiating from me. When I was heading out Nick all but pushed his way into the car like a five year old. It's been a nonstop battle about who goes in when all I want to do is annoy my favorite sweethe- I mean find the drive. More and more people are starting to get curious about the drive. There's been too many whispers about its disappearance and in my fathers latest threats new plots from rivals trying to find it. And yet the only thing concerning me is how Persephone is doing today. And more importantly, how I'm going to snap my best friend's neck for stealing my time with her.

Seeing Nick talking to her snaps me out of my thoughts as I try to get a better look. I swear to god I'll kill him if he's flirting with her. He's been able to charm just about anyone for as long as I've known him. I never cared before and I probably shouldn't now but I can't help but feel jealous that i'm not in his position. Lucky for him, she doesn't look too happy about whatever he just said. So much for the master. Looks like he got just as distracted as I've been. I smile a little, happy to know that Nick's so-called charm doesn't work on her. A smile that's quickly wiped away by a text from my father.

Father: You have one week to find the drive and complete the deal or I'm handing the mafia over to your cousin.

Great. The last thing I need is a deadline. Not only does that mean the pressure is on but my time with the girl who's been plaguing my thoughts the last couple of weeks might be coming to an end. It's not like I expected to see her after all this. But what other reason could I have for coming to see her. Nick walking out with the biggest smirk on his face only worsens my mood.

"See, I always knew you had a thing for snarky chicks. Might be the best one you ever found."

Without even taking my eyes off the wheel I punch him in his chest. He laughs. "I'm just saying that girl is going to give you a run for your money. I wouldn't be surprised if you give in before she does."

A small part of me knows he's right. But the rest of me refuses to acknowledge that she might have something over me. If anything happens between us it'll be because she begged for it to happen. Until then I'll settle for our little face offs and keep away anyone who dares look her way, including my best friend. "Look at her again and I'll fucking kill you." "Rock, you know that threat stopped working like 5 years ago right."

"This is not a threat. It's a promise."

Nick puts his hand up in a surrender position. "Okay. Okay. Heard loud and clear boss man. Now what are we doing about the drive? "

"At this point we have looked everywhere and the only place it could be is at that store."

"So what do you want us to sneak back in there after it closes to search for it.? That can be arranged. How many guys do you want on this?"

I shake my head. "Just you and me. I can't risk one of the newbies going to my father."

Nick gives me a concerned look."What do you think your dad got a spy or a rat or something?"

"I'm not sure. I just have this weird feeling and I don't want to risk it."

"Okay, just you and me. We can figure this out together. I got your back."

I turn my head back to the road and nod. We drove the rest of the way home listening to the city.
