The crisp night air cut through Kyo's coat as he, Hiroshi, and Yusuke walked briskly to the train station. The cold was biting at Kyo's exposed skin, making him wish he had bundled up more. Hiroshi and Yusuke flanked him, their presence a small comfort amidst his growing anxiety.
Hiroshi glanced over at Kyo, his expression turning serious. "Kyo, do you really think Tohru is cheating on you?"
Kyo sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. "I don't know for sure. But with the way she's been acting, that receipt from the dress shop, and Shigure's insinuations... it's the only thing that makes sense right now."
Yusuke shook his head, his tone firm. "Come on, Kyo. This is Honda we're talking about. There's no way she's cheating."
Kyo muttered, his voice barely audible over the wind. "I hope you're right."
As they boarded the train, Kyo felt a surge of unease. The idea of going to the party felt like a way to get back at her somehow, a twisted form of catharsis. Hiroshi and Yusuke chattered beside him, but Kyo could barely focus on their conversation.
Hiroshi sighed, glancing at Kyo with a hint of concern. "Maybe Yusuke is right. Maybe she bought that dress as a gift or to surprise you."
Yusuke perked up, looking inquisitive. "Do you have an anniversary coming up or something?"
Kyo shook his head, feeling the weight of the situation. "No, we don't. And honestly, Tohru doesn't wear things like that."
Hiroshi's eyebrows lifted in surprise. "Not even during... you know, sex?"
Kyo's face flushed deeply. He stammered, "I wouldn't know because we haven't... done that yet."
Before Hiroshi or Yusuke could respond, Kyo's phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out to see a message from Kazuma.
Kyo's heart sank. It wasn't from Tohru. The realization hit him hard. The gnawing worry about her fidelity returned with full force. He slipped his phone back into his pocket, his mind racing.
As they disembarked from the train and made their way toward the party venue, Kyo struggled to keep up with Hiroshi and Yusuke's conversation. His mind was tangled in knots of doubt and fear. The thought of Tohru potentially cheating on him felt like a gut-wrenching nightmare. She was everything to him, and the idea of losing her was unbearable.
Hiroshi glanced back at Kyo, noticing his distracted demeanor. "Hey, you alright? You seem a little off."
Kyo forced a nod, trying to mask his turmoil. "Yeah, just... a lot on my mind."
Yusuke gave him a sympathetic look. "If you need to talk about it, we're here for you. But I'm telling you, Honda doesn't seem like the type to cheat."
Kyo managed a faint smile, appreciating their support but feeling the weight of uncertainty still pressing down on him. As they approached the party, his heart pounded, and his thoughts continued to spiral. If Shigure's suspicions were true, Kyo couldn't fathom how he would move on. Tohru was his everything, and the thought of losing her was almost too much to bear.
As Kyo stepped into the cave, he wasn't sure what to expect, but this wasn't it. The natural ruggedness of the cave had been transformed into a surreal party space. Strings of LED lights and fairy lights draped over the jagged rocks, casting an otherworldly glow. Neon lights flashed rhythmically to the pounding beat of electronic music, creating a dizzying array of colors. Glowsticks bobbed up and down as people danced, adding to the kaleidoscope of light. The warmth of the artificial lighting was a stark contrast to the cold night air outside, but it only added to the surreal atmosphere.
