The Adirondack Park, New York.
The Adirondack Park's sun-dappled forest floor served as John's training grounds, with Aether guiding him.
"Open your hands wide," Aether instructed, his intense gaze locked on John.
John complied, and the Swords of Echo sprang to life, flying into his palms with precision. "Whoa!" John exclaimed, awestruck.
"How is this possible?" John asked.
"The Swords' destiny is tied to the Scintilla's purpose," Aether explained. "As its host, you're attuned to their frequency."
Aether paced deliberately. "Again."
John swung around, releasing the swords. They sliced through trees with deadly accuracy.
"Should I call them back?" John asked, excitement lacing his voice.
"Not yet," Aether replied, a hint of a smile. "Let's practice control. Move your hands to direct the swords."
John's eyes widened as he experimented, the swords responding to his gestures.
John's fascination grew. He sheathed the blades and joined Aether on a weathered rock.
"What's the story behind the Scintilla and these swords?" John asked.
Aether's expression turned somber. "The Scintilla's journey to Earth began with tragedy. The dreaded Carnifex, Scourge of the Realms, and his Exsuperian army attacked my realm."
"Carnifex sought to exploit the Scintilla's power," Aether continued. "He learned of my father's passing, Eryndor Thorne, our realm's ruler and Scintilla's guardian."
Aether's eyes clouded. "The Exsuperians ravaged our realm, slaughtering innocents. Arinthal, my father's bodyguard, helped me escape with the Scintilla."
"We fled to Earth, seeking refuge," Aether said, sorrow weighing his voice. "Arinthal sacrificed himself to ensure our safe passage."
John's eyes widened in empathy. "I'm sorry, Aether."
Aether nodded, his gaze distant. "The Scintilla's energy resonates with Earth's unique properties."
"You mean the Scintilla crystal contains Earthly elements?" John asked.
Aether nodded. "Yes, it was first conceptualized here on Earth by a visionary scientist. He discovered the extraordinary Scintillium element while exploring the cosmos."
"Scintillium," Aether continued, "possesses unparalleled energy-conducting properties. The scientist recognized its potential to restore balance and unity to the universe."
"The scientist envisioned harnessing Scintillium to restore balance and unity," Aether explained.
John's expression turned thoughtful. "Aether, why did Carnifex's troops defeat your people so easily?"
Aether's gaze dropped. "My people were never born for war, John. We relied heavily on our ruler, my father, and his skilled warriors. We were craftsmen, healers, and scholars. Our strength lay in our unity and wisdom, not combat."
John's brow furrowed. "Why didn't the Scintilla pass to you? You're the rightful heir."
Aether's eyes lifted. "The Scintilla isn't inherited. It circulates through realms, protected by whoever it chooses. Since it was on Earth, it chose a human."
John's curiosity deepened. "Why me? I'm not a warrior."
Aether's shoulders sagged. "I don't know, John. The Scintilla's choices are mysterious."
John searched Aether's face. "What does it want from me?"
Aether's expression remained enigmatic. "Only time will reveal that, John."
"Now, John," Aether continued, "regarding your suit's appearance..."
"When you're ready to transform, touch the floor with your right fingertips. The suit is connected to Earth," Aether instructed.
John's curiosity piqued. "What's the suit made of?"
"The suit was composed from the token of Crybernaria, Realm Kyrios," Aether replied, "before Kyber's corruption."
"That token holds the essence of Crybernaria's resilience," Aether explained. "It will adapt to your form, enhancing your abilities."
John's eyes widened. "And how do I control it?"
"The Scintilla's energy will guide you," Aether said. "Remember, the suit is just an extension of you."
As Aether's word faded John felt an unusual tingling in his finger. The suit's material seemed to shift as if responding to John's thought.
