Back on Earth.
John realized it was getting late, his eyes snapping open. "Aether, I have to go! My family will worry." He hastily stood up, mind racing with the passing hours.
"It's late already; my dad's going to kill me." He hurried off, calling out, "Until next time, Aether!"
Aether's expression turned grave. "John, you can't go back. It's not safe. Carnifex will target your family if they discover your connection to the Scintilla. You must stay out of reach, for their protection."
John's heart raced. "But Carnifex can't come to Earth, can he?"
Aether stood up and walked to John, gripping his shoulder. "No, but he'll send someone. An agent. We must ensure your family's safety."
John felt torn between loyalty and duty. "But no one is here yet. Can I just go and inform them, maybe have a little chat?"
Aether's voice intensified. "You'll only put them in greater danger. Carnifex's reach is vast, and his agents are ruthless."
Just as they stood in persuasion and emotions, the Scintilla crystal pulsed wildly, emitting a vibrant glow. Aether's eyes locked onto the crystal.
"What's happening?" John asked.
"The crystal's glow intensified, signaling an ominous presence," Aether replied, his expression darkening. "Malevolent energy is nearby. We must secure the Scintilla. John, insert the Scintilla into the suit's heart. It's the only way to keep it safe."
John hesitated, unsure. Aether guided his hand, pressing the crystal toward the suit's center.
"As the crystal approaches the heart, it will shrink to fit. This will secure it and mask its energy signature."
The crystal began to glow, shrinking as it merged with the suit's heart, fitting perfectly into its new sanctuary. The glow dimmed, and the suit's energy signature masked.
John felt the unfamiliar energy coursing through him.
Just then, a dark voice echoed from behind.
"Bird boy! You never cease to amaze me. After your father's death, you still choose to protect the cause."
Radium emerged, his face twisted in compassion.
"Sorry for my manners. I saw the havoc Carnifex's armies did in your home. Well, I wish they had surrendered rather than fighting. Carnifex means no harm to the universe."
Aether quickly objected, "Carnifex means no harm? He erased an entire inhabited realm!"
Radium's expression turned solemn. "They pushed him to do so. What he ever wanted was the crystal to extend Nexar magic to the world. He is a good ruler, and he wants the best for us."
"Your father was blinded by ambition. He manipulated the crystal's power for personal gain, sealing his fate."
John's determination hardened. "We won't believe that."
Radium's voice became commanding. "Face the truth, boy. Aether's father exploited the crystal, destabilizing Omniverse Cosmos balance. Now, hand over the Scintilla."
Aether's eyes flashed with anger. "You don't know what you're talking about."
Radium sneered. "I know more than you think. Your father's recklessness sparked Carnifex's interest. Give me the crystal, or suffer the consequences."
"I suggest you leave," John said firmly. "You won't like it when the cops get here."
Aether angrily uprooted a tree and sent it flying toward Radium. Radium's eyes turned yellow, and through radiation manipulation, the tree melted before reaching him.
He smiled devilishly. "I think your cops and heroes will be busy."
"Aether, I thought you were smarter than this. Bringing the crystal to Earth, of all places, when you could have sought sanctuary in Potenia, the Realm of the Gods. A realm where divine protection would have shielded you from Carnifex's reach."
Radium's intensity grew. "Earth is the weakest spot in the universe. Their heroes are scattered, no unity, no harmony. What were you thinking, saving the world on your own?"
Valkria emerged from the shadows, her speed impressive as she closed in on John.
"Kyra, get him out of here!" Aether commanded.
"Who's that?" John asked, confused.
"I am Kyra, John," a voice activated inside his suit. "Your conscience and the Scintilla's AI. Buckle up, kid! This is gonna be fun!"
The suit self-activated, turning around and preparing to run.
"Who just said that? And where are you taking me?" John asked, struggling to keep up with the suit's movement.
"Your ride or die, that's me!" Kyra replied. "Hold tight, we're going off-road!"
The suit took off, speeding through the forest. John's surroundings blurred as they vanished into thin air.
Valkria landed, stumbling on the forest floor.
"I'll find you," Aether vowed, turning to face Radium.
Radium's gaze turned glacial. "Your determination is... amusing."
