their bodies moved together in unison. every touch was calculated, every skim of their fingers and tilt of their heads were planned. anything to be closer. so as zia grappled onto aubrey's arm lightly her hands cupping her forearms gently as she moved herself closer to aubrey's chest. their breaths fell and rose in the same seconds. faces too close as their smiles too wide, gestures far too intimate to be ignored.

it didn't matter to either of them if people were watching them, it didn't matter that this could end in disaster. aubrey looked down, watching the way zia's lips fell ajar, her breathes smoothing between her tongue slicing through the thickened air. her mouth glossed over dampened as she rubbed her lips together. zia's eyes reflected by the green lights that flashed aggressively overhead.

zia's breaths hitched as she let aubrey's hands caress of her waist, letting them travel over her hips and torso. biting down a smile as she welcomed the warmth of aubrey's body. the proximity between the two closing with every second that neared. it didn't matter to them that their feet ached from the dancing. all aubrey could think about was what kissing zia would feel like.

all zia could think about was how badly she wanted to kiss aubrey.

"hey, ada is looking for you. i think she is really drunk." paige cut the space between the two. their arms almost immediately dropping to the side. hands scrunched as they awkwardly strained their fingers as if they had just been caught. though to the naked eye it there was nothing to catch. they were just dancing after all.

but it felt like so much more to zia. perhaps it was just the alcohol seeping into her system making her heart race to unhealthily fast rates. making her stomach flip as the nerves began to overtake her body. shaking her into an unwary state, making it seem that every motion was not her own. taking control of her every action that only yearned to be with aubrey, be closer and closer until it fed her needs.

but these feelings cut out at the sound of paige's voice. the realisation of her actions now awakening her as she stepped backwards. awkwardly fumbling with her hands as she nodded slowly. not completely understanding anything that paige was saying.

"don't worry i got you guys an uber home, she's just at the bar with kk." paige pointed towards ada who had been passed out on kk's shoulder. the freshmen comforting the girl at her side as she scrolled on her phone, unbothered by the journalist.

"thank you so much, i owe you." zia grumbled as she brushed ada's hair out of her eyes. grasping the side of her hips as she leant ada over her shoulder.

"where are we going?" ada groaned as she placed a hand onto the barstool. propping herself up as she turned to look at zia through crinkled eyes.

"we're going home now baby, you gotta get some rest. you've had a fun night tonight, didn't you?" zia smiled as she held ada tightly in her arms, trying to maintain a calm demeanour even as she struggled to trudge the girl out the bar.

"here we got it." aubrey took it upon herself to assist zia. lightly pushing her to the side as she clung under ada's right shoulder as paige took the left.

zia quickly turned, waving the girls a goodbye before she descended out the doors, her hair a mess as the wind started to pick up. the streets practically empty as the only sounds that resurfaced in the air was that of footsteps created by aubrey and paige. sneakers scuffing the concrete as they carried ada into the uber. paige taking ahold of the girl into her arms as she readjusted her head, ensuring that she was comfortable before stepping backwards.

aubrey wiped her hands slowly against her jeans. her lips jittery as turned to face zia, her lips already upturned into a smile as she laid eyes on the girl. her frame enclosed as she encaged herself into her arms. aubrey let out a small chuckle as her curly hair broke from its cast, laying a little frizzy over her face.

"here take my jacket." aubrey slung the clothing off her shoulders, wrapping it over zia careful not to catch her hair onto the zipper.

"thank you for tonight. i had fun." zia tried to look up and aubrey through the strands of her hair that were being pushed over her eyes by the wind. letting a small sigh ease from her mouth as she stepped a closer towards aubrey.

"me too, hopefully i'll see you again soon." aubrey was gentle as she brushed the rogue hairs from zia's face, pushing them behind her ear. her heart beat quickened in pace as she felt the tension in her chest get tighter. with every inhale her mouth seemingly closed up, making it harder to form the words she really wanted to.

"hmm we'll have to see about that. you've got a pretty busy schedule there d1 athlete." zia joked, stepping aside towards the uber. avoiding any and all thoughts that screamed at her to finally fall into their cruel intentions. to give in to their whispers which only fed into the desire, the want.

zia didn't want to have to admit she wanted aubrey. so instead she avoided it.

with a small wave and smile zia closed the car door. aubrey returning the gesture as her and paige watched the car drive down the street. smiled vague and merely just a small lift at the crevices of their lips.

aubrey did't need to be sober to be sure she wanted zia. she was more than sure that she did. there was no other explanation to why she felt the way she did. and by now she knew far to well that no amount of alcohol could've made her feel that way.

it was incomparable.

...

even when zia got home she couldn't stop thinking about aubrey. even as she laid wide awake laying on the floor of her room with her eyes seared shut. attempting to think about anything other than the girl every thought ended with aubrey. somehow her brain managed to fit her into every equation and leave her as every outcome.

all zia could think about was how good it felt to be near her, to be with her. that rush of adrenaline that would form in her body as it surged with a new feeling she was so unfamiliar with. zia only thought about how the heat of her touch radiated off her skin, fingertips burning into the side of her waist as her hands pressed with a slight force. a firm grip on her hips as the smoothly skimmed across her body. aubrey's eyes as they crinkled slightly as she leant her head further down, their lips basically inches away from touching as their breathes formed into one.

it felt as if they were just torturing each other. backing away just to come closer together. purposely hesitating into every touch just to pull out a reaction they needed. feeding on every expression, just to fulfil their fantasies which could not be met.

zia knew that it would be a bad thing to get into things with aubrey. zia was well aware that dating a basketball player wasn't at all the best of ideas she's had. she knew what her friends would say, what everyone who say. it would just be and endless lecture of how she was going to get hurt.

but what if they didn't have to date. what they do or what they choose to do didn't need to be public.

"hey, can you meet me at mine in 15?"

this just had to be their little secret.
