- chapter four -

Dean and I have probably been sitting here for at least an hour he's been talking the entire time but I've tuned him out a while ago. Nodding my head here and there. It's hard to focus when I keep hearing that girl laugh and talk with who I think is her friend. Every time I hear her laugh I stiffen it rings through out the whole bar like a bell. "Uh Kai...? Are you ok?" "Huh? Yes I'm fine." "Then why are you so stiff?" Damn I didn't think he'd notice dean isn't the brightest bulb ever but I guess he pays more attention than I gave him credit for. "It's nothing really. I think I'm just tired.." "well then I guess I should go." He finally stood patting me on the shoulder "see you around Kai." He walked off before I could say anything back to him. "Do you want me to close your friend's tab sir?" I turn my head to see that bartender who's had me stuck in my chair frozen for over an hour at this point. She's waiting for me to respond to her question but I'm not so sure if I say something it'll come out the way I want it to but I have to say something or she'll find me cold and rude like most do. She's the only person I've cared what they thought of me in years. "Uhm yes that would be great thank you." "No problem sir! Have a great night." "Thanks you too." Then I finally stood my legs stiff as a board praying I don't fall over. That would be embarrassing a guy like me standing up and just hitting the ground in front of a girl who makes it hard to breathe properly I think I'd just give up my VIP status here and never look back. I made it out without a problem finally catching my breath the fresh crisp air of fall filling my lungs. Never in my life did I think I'd appreciate the cold as much as I do right now. My driver was already waiting for me outside he's already gotten out and opened my door I've told him he doesn't need to do that but he insists on it. I jump into the back seat just relieved to be going home for the night even though there's nothing but more paperwork waiting for me there.
