Nicholas ChavezThe sound of a phone ringing out into the room wakes me. My eyes blink open in confusion, I feel disoriented, and my mind is still heavy with sleep. As I lay on my stomach, my head pushed into the pillow, my hand reaches over to the nightstand, fumbling for the buzzing object in the dark room, the small amount of light peaking through the curtains.
I struggle to focus as I squint at the glowing screen, barely able to process who would call me at the crack ass of dawn.
It's Zayn.
I let out an annoyed groan, putting the phone to my ear, "What?" I sneer.
"Rise and shine, sleeping beauty." His aggravating voice says, "I need to talk to you."
"It's six AM, Zayn, this couldn't have waited for... I don't know, maybe the fucking afternoon?" I grit through my teeth, feeling more awake now.
"The world unfortunately doesn't revolve around you, so no, it couldn't have waited 'til the princess arose."
"Get to the fucking point before I hang up on your ass." I snap, beginning to turn around and sit up, my body now against the headboard of the bed.
"How was last night?" He asks me, speaking over the background noise coming through on his end.
"Shit." That is all I say before I hear the girl beside me start groaning in her sleep. She turns to face me, her eyes still blissfully closed as she attempts to sling her arm over my hips.
I clench my jaw and immediately pick up her arm in disgust, taking it off of me. I hate being fucking touched and she knows that.
The only reason I'm even here right now is because of last night. I needed to get out of that house and away from her before I went ballistic. I needed to blow off some steam, so this was the best option I could think of. Elles place.
"Well... that's unfortunate because Diego wants you to be her primary."
I can already feel my temper rising, "What the fuck do you mean?" I ask, already knowing the answer but still in denial.
"He wants you to be the one with her for most of the time," He tells me, "meaning-" He stops mid-sentence, "Hey, hey, hey, that is the wrong spot. Put it where it's meant to be, dumbass!" He yells at whoever he's with, getting distracted.
"Sorry- meaning you'll need to go most of the places she goes." He solidifies my thoughts.
"You're kidding right?" I question, "Why the fuck do I have to do it? Choose Ronnie. I can't stand her." I huff, running my fingers through my messy hair.
"She's a sweet girl, Nick, what's your problem with her?" He questions me.
I let out a chuckle, "Sweet girl my ass, I feel like slamming my head into a car door when I'm around her." I complain, my hatred fueling even harder ever since last night.
"You're so fucking dramatic," He sighs, "you're just gonna need to get over it because everything has already been settled." He lets me know, shooting down any sudden ideas of negotiation that I may try.
"This is bullshit." I shake my head, closing my eyes shut as I try my best to conceal my anger.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He ignores my frustrations, "Tonight she's going to a private members club and I want you there with her. Just watch over her and make sure things run smoothly."
I lift an eyebrow, "She seriously needs fucking security for a club?" I ask, especially since it's not even a regular civilized location, it's an exclusive social space meant for celebrities and high-profile individuals.
